Well guys--here is a perfect example of what the registry can do. I entered info on a car back in January of this year. The car is a 1999 Spider being sold by a dealer in California. At that time the car had 14K miles on it. I was just updating info and found that car again at the same dealer for the same price. Funny--Now the car only has 11,900 miles on it. I guess someone has been driving it backwards.....The registry is here for you guys. PLEASE send me a PM before your purchase --So I can check the back office note section I keep that is not viewable to the general public!!!! This could happen to anyone of us....

I think the drivers seat bolster is a more reliable mileage indicator that the odometer....:p......... its no wonder that some shops have said they have seen "low mile" 355s w/valve guide failure............... :(

Robbie great job. I know it has been an uphill battle, but because of your hard work and dedication the registry is now an extremely valuable source for both buyers and sellers. My hat goes off to you for starting this project, and having the fortitude to see thru.

Small or large dealer? I ask because some small dealers will run ads using cars that they don't possess just to get people calling in (sometimes they try to find a car for you without telling you that's what they're doing, other times they just try to steer you to their existing inventory).

+1 ..... as well it should be !!!! Every odo rollback out there makes it harder for me to sell my honest mileage car at a decent price. In addition we have the 'low mile' enthusiasts out there paying premiums for odo rollback cars... ....... I don't see any end in sight to this madness as long as people put a higher value on what the odo says versus the car's condition.....:(

That needs to be highlighted as a 'plus' at the time of sale, documented mileage. I have good documentation through carfax, lots of records in there showing the mileage / time progression. I don't plan on selling for 10 yrs anyway, and hopefully over 75k miles...

Looks like a big dealer, from the looks of their ad and showroom, but they are not a household name for sure. They sell cars on Dupont Registry, but not Ebay.. I guess they can always come back and say the previous ad was a misprint or something like that, but I know what I typed in from before!! This is what takes me alot of time with the registry. I can either sit down and enter new cars with little info or go back in and update existing cars with fresh info. I try to juggle both entries 50/50 - One week I focus on adding new cars into the registry. The next week I focus on updating existing cars with info I find...If I focus to much on one and not the other than I get behind for sure...Hopefully I don't catch anymore like this--that would mean the dealers/owners are doing a good job when they represent their cars, but I am sure I will unfortunately....If I ever get this pic upload feature to work on the site, I am going to email dealers and let them know there will be a For Sale link to the site for them to use. Maybe when that is done and more people and dealers know the site is out there, the less chance people will do this..That is what I am hoping...

Your registry will help stop some of the nonsense that goes on, but eventually that sort of registry feature will become fully automated by the Internet.

Look at www.archive.org. They *already* archive most every web page so that you can track changes that a site has made over time.

Well, at some point the VIN of every car for sale will be tracked by a site like that (rather than you doing some of it by hand when you can).

Carfax and autocheck.com are getting pretty close, anyway.

So before too long you'll be going to a web site that will have every ad for each time the car has been put up for sale, every auction, all carfax results, DMV license plate renewals, smog inspections, wrecks, every oil change, the works...

Sorry, that came out wrong. I meant to say "Great Job," and in the future what you're doing will be even better via automation (you, someone else, has to happen).
