Why not have the car shipped in various sections, and then assemble it here? You can import the sections as 'parts' instead of an entire car. I've done it many times with cars and motorcycles!
I've helped a friend bring in a Pantera from California, and an Alfa Romeo. Customs officials rarely ask questions when bringing in 'parts'. Illegal motorcycles like MV Agusta, Laverda and 2 stroke racing bikes are brought in this way as well. If buying from the US, have the parts shipped to Buffalo, and then bring them thru the border yourself, that way customs thinks that you purchased the parts for your own use. (Less suspicious). You can also declare the car as 'home built' or 'custom', which will allow it to be plated for the road. There are many ways of getting it thru. Many gun collectors import illegal guns this way (shipping dissassembled). I know a collector who owns about a dozen classic hand guns, who bought them from the US and brought them to Canada with very little problems. Although after 9/11 trying to import any weapons or parts is a big NO.
You know, ive heard of a car done like this as well, and got plated easily back in the 90s. Your not half as STUPID as i thought you were. Not bad dumbass
It is in fact possible. Not sure how easy it is to do for some cars. I have a colleague (512BB owner) who had brought in an MV Agusta this way too.
I know a Morgan that came in this way in the mid-80s when they were not allowed. Purchased from a dealer in Germany. Dis-assembled by a specialist in the UK. It was shipped & landed in Canada as parts. Re-assembled & titled as a kit. The guy that imported it doubled his money when he sold it a year later. Ian
Its merely my suggestion, and of course we were dealing with other experts when doing the transactions too. This 'technique' that I metioned has been used in the past, I'm not sure if it is still possible in 2007 with any new government policies and post 9/11 regulations? I have not reviewed the RIV list, but I assume Mosler is not listed on it, therefore it can be licensed as a 'home built' vehicle. Its worth a shot!
I was speaking with a friend who built a Lotus 7 clone but had trouble getting it licensed as there is it is getting tougher to license 'home built' cars, apparently. In the end, he succeeded getting plates by calling his car an MGB GT, simply because that's where he got the brakes, gauges, and a few other odds and ends! For what it's worth, you might explore looking at 'borrowed' components of the Mosler and licensing it that way. I saw another example of this approach today at the Ferrari Club run up in Keswick, where a crazy-looking custom car (imagine Jay Leno's tank car but much smaller) with a farcical Fiat badge. I realie, however, that it's easier to do this with older cars than new ones, but it may be worth a shot. Good luck!
The only thing that is from corvette that I can think of is the engine, it has porsche transmission, and everything else must be custom build. If I am not wrong the guy who designed mosler used to work for GM, he introduced the car as the corvette concept opportunity but was rejected, well too bad. Thats just what I heard...

this is whats happening, because the car is not on the R.I.V list and no one has tried to bring one up before Scott and I have to follow Transport Canada guidelines. Theres ONE person that handles ALL passenger cars trying to come into canada and has been on vacation for the entire month of august, I FINALLY managed to speak to a real live person(after 3 weeks of trying) and he explained to me what is needed. So basically we're 1 step done out of 20 and the worst part is theres NOTHING i can do to speed it up.
It is a huge pain in the ass...you can import a .50 cal assult rifle but a car..whoa...slow down..........its brutal.......James has been great..Wish him a happy birthday today
Sounds like quite the experience! It will all be worth it when you blast around the track in that thing. Happy Bday James!!
