I never said I didn't believe you. I just wanted things cleared up. And it did get you to post pictures...
Really nice collection you have mate, enjoy in good health, you've obviously worked hard for them. Love the colour combos on the Lambo's, both perfect, stunning example of the Rolls also.
300 miles!!! that thing must be beat to the ground...........was it a daily driver or something? on a more serious note, isn't such an old car with so few miles gonna need major work?.....bunch of little things here and there that would need to be replaced because of the lack of use?....
Thanks. The Phantom looks great, the other cars also. The color combo of the DB9 is hot. You are a amazing guy. That list of cars which you have, have owned and which you are getting is amazing. we should google jorge...let's learn about his job and how we can get similar employment. darn...but investment bank aint what she used to be!!! but my expensive tastes are still what they used to be!! pcb
Thanks. Fortunately I don't have to pay premiums. As far as the future cars are concerned, I'm probably gonna pass on the Exige GT3, and the 911 GT2 (really overkill at this point - maybe I can flip my slot to someone for alittle profit). I'm starting to get worried about the Bugatti. The big deposit is due, and its about the full cost of a "regular" exotic. I'm swingging back and forth and may pass. Its just SO much money to have tied up in one car. The truth is, I'd probably be just as happy with just my 599, my RR and my F430 Spyder (ordered). That pretty much covers everything you'd ever want to do with a car. Maybe I should sell out - take alittle premium - and enjoy the those three cars. My collection is now taking up alot of my time. It seems like evry day I've got one or two cars that require some type of attention.
Haha, this is what we call a high-end problem. I know a guy with that type collection near our beach house, has around 35-40 cars and that's his "problem" too. For my .02, the Veyron would probably be a little overkill, with the Phantom, 599, 430, DB9, etc. etc. etc.
Some people think that way and others don't. A 25 year old car with such low miles probably will need a major and all the consumables changed (even the tires). Rubber just doesn't last 25 years. Had it been driven, it would have had the consumable current as a matter of course. That said, I would probably go for it and budget alittle extra money to do the work. Because, in the end, wether you drive the car or not, your basically getting a brand new 25 year old car. The other car the same guy had (another F40) had about 8,000 miles and showed it. He was asking about 100k less for that one. However, when I got my 360CS it had about 2,000 miles. I had the dealer give it a belt service, pads, tires and a general inspection. There was another CS available with only delivery miles that was about 25k more and I passed. It probably needed the same amount of work (or less - tires were fine) but I didn't think it was worth the extra 25k since I was gonna drive the car and not pickle it. If I had intened to pickle it as an investment, I would have bought it. So far, I've put about 2,000 more miles on my CS. At this point I dont think there would be a big difference between a CS with 4,000 or a CS with 2,000, so the 25k would have been wasted. That said, I'm gonna put my CS on the market. Its absolutely perfect, and has a bunch of nice upgrades. If anyone is interested send me a message.
WOW. Having 35-40 cars would probably be pretty close to a full time job. The interesting thing is that in this hobby, if you are careful and patient, you can make alittle bit of money. Do you guys think the Veyron will increase or decrease in value ofver the next 5 years. My feeling is that while they are still in production (probably another 2 years until they sell out the 300 cars), the price won't move, but after that it will start to increase.
What is a real Veyron going for now? I see them splashily advertised on Dupont Reg, and Ebay occasionally for the 1.6-1.85m range. I thought the real MSRP was somewhere around 1.3-1.4. What is your dealer quoting you for yours, Mr. Wolf? If there is a true 250k+ to be easily made by flipping it into the fair market value, then I stand corrected.
I don't see the Veyron appreciating any time in the near future (5-10 years). The fact that new cars are still available to order seems to be a pretty good indicator that the used market isn't going to pump their values any time soon.
Can understand you fully. A bugatti is in my eyes to expensive. . For that money you can buy so much other cars. What do you need more than a 599, a F430 and a RR? Like you say, enjoing this cars. But when you have pics of on of your cars like the 612, lets see it!
yeah i dont feel like that car will increase... You should get what you want if you can and enjoy it though. I thought they said they were comming out with a higher performance model too with 1260 hp or something... but that could be a rumour. Anyways Jorge thanks for sharing.
Nice Phantom! That color looks almost blue. Wild. Nice of you to take pictures. I find it sad sometimes we live in a world where you have to prove everything. So many liars on the internet. You should sell everything and keep the 612, 430, RR, and buy the Bugatti. Just my opinion Congrats on your success! Looks like a great neighborhood you live in. I think it would be fun to live in a place like that.
As of Pebble Beach last week and directly from Bugatti, that rumor is false. In addition, there will not be a convertible Veyron.
I'm not so sure about the Veyron's value ... but my gut feeling says no. First reason is the car doesn't fascinate people enough. It sounds like a truck, styling is sometimes awkward, and the uber-luxury makes it more a fashion/success statement than a true collector's favourite (am I the only one to have noticed that the true sports cars are the ones who most often bring a premium and hod their value best? thinking Z06, GT3RS, Enzo ... etc etc). To top this off, it's still available from the factory. So why would it appreciate? Errr ...... yeah, mmmh ... sums it up. Especially in the coming 5 years? No way. Considering Mr Bscher left Bugatti, it's safe to say VAG has no roadster in the works, and no smaller Bugatti either ...
Around the 1.8 range I believe. MSRP is around 1.4, will be bumped up to 1.5 soon. I'm betting that the value of these cars will stay steady if not increase a bit over time. The production is limited not to mention how special of a car it will be. It is a technological marvel that will go down in automotive history. Note the prices of the Enzo, there will only be 300 Veyrons, while there are over 400 Enzos out there and they are commanding nearly twice their MSRP.
Note the fact that EVERY Enzo was spoken for at least twice over before production even began. The Veyron has been out for quite a while and you can still go order one if you plunk down the cash. I just don't see the Veyron following a pricing trend anything like that of the Enzo.
The MSRP is exactly 1.1 million euros, plus shipping and import duties. All up, it currently works out to about 1.75 million dollars.
Why the 612 instead of the 599? I like the 599 much more than the 612. I have the 612 cause sometime i take my kids in it.
They got the A/C fixed on the 612 - I hope (3 times may be the charm). However, the Ferrari Sports (GTC) exhaust I ordered for it should be coming in on Thursday or Friday, so I told them to keep the car until then and give it back to me on Monday or Tuesday. If the exhaust doen't come in I'm gonna bring the car home for the weekend and I'll try to take some pics. BTW, I'm in my garage right now and it sounds like there is a rattle snake in my storage closet. Only problem is I live in Miami and we don't have rattle snakes. I'm not going in there for a few days at least!
No fault of yours, as we've had many a tall tale told. And I do mean, TALL tales. Oftentimes, as a precaution for those who "won't get fooled again," those with collections such as yours will receive queries for proof positive, which often extends to requests for the claimant to post a picture of that date's newspaper next to a VIN number and so forth.
