Yeah think of it as Constructive Criticism by shareholders of the company who have invested hundreds of thousands if not millions of dollars individually in the lean mean racer-for-the-road concept, only to be served up with overweight porkers in recent times. LOL.

I think the $1.5m BS car was the last straw for many of us that has caused all this to come out. We have privately been discussing it for a while. Lets not forget it, some of us have been very very good to Lamborghini....

    Thanks Chaos.

BTW Five doesnt know what he is talking about. I make money off (as he puts it) new cars too. So his premise is completely flawed and his bogus theory without basis.

I recently spent approx $450k on a car.... it wasnt a Lamborghini. They didnt get my potential new-car business. Am I sending a message?

Im keeping the old Miura SV though... in Ferruccio's honor.

But you didn't see Honda with ownership over Mclaren. Its just partnership this is ownership where talking about.

If it would have had a Honda engine I highly doubt that the Mclaren F1 would have had the same results.

I'm fully aware, my point of saying that was to show that it is possible to create a light-weight sportscar even today. Which is also why I added the bit about the F430 Scuderia since that and the Miura are more comparable.

Yes. ever since audi took over, there have been many L enthusiasts that have not been too happy... So any one want to organize a group or a fund to purchase the company from Audi? :)I honestly think that we are not shareholders but merely customers and fans who buy their product. But I understand our tendencies to take ownership on things we have a passion for... We love the brand but we dont own the brand. Audi owns it. They were the ones who shelled out the money for the company and shelled out even more to modernize Lamborghini. And if not for Chrysler or Audi to the rescue, No diablo, No murcielago, and most of all No newer Lamborghinis... And without them, perhaps Lamborghini would have just close its doors... Honestly, I am just trying to be objective about the fact that at least there are efforts, perhaps not to our liking... but efforts nevertheless.... I just give credit to where credit is due. Because while many may not like another murcie derivative, or say that is overweight... its a new car regardless and to me thats better than no cars... And while it is a love hate relationship when audi or Chrysler are in the picture... No new cars... BAD... no cars... WORSE... no factory.... SUPER BAD.... And yes, while perhaps the 1.5 mil car was the last straw for many, I view it as an indirect means(profits) for a company, a chance hopefully to develop newer lighter cars that are truer to Lamborghini's original intent. And if people dont like the current cars, dont buy it. That is the best way to let Lamborghini know if they are messing up... If the 640 are still in showrooms, hopefully Lamborghini will take heed and check out this forum to find out some of the reasons why its not selling... But until then, I patiently await for better days and a Lamborghini that can be profitable and make cars closer to its original ideals.

Very intersting news that Lamborghini will produce a 1.5 Million $ car. I would preffer something like a Ferrari Enzo Ferrari FXX but a car that looks like a jet is neither bad.

@qvpower: What does it mean the Lamborghini LP 640 is still in showrooms ? This upgrade of the Murcielago is the best car of lamborghini in performance. Have u ever seen the Top Gear Video where the LP 640 is on the first 10 places on the race-trac-test.
In the TOP 10 u only find cars which are not being produced anymore or they cost of 500.000 € like Porsche Carrera Gt or Ferrari Enzo Ferrari. So the Lmaborghini is a very nice car with good power and price ratio. It is also my favourite car too^^.

And yeah i dont own such a car but i can understand the people who dont like the odern Lambos because they lost their old emotions. But i think the new cars are arbitrating the emotions in a new and modern way. That means with air conditioner and 4wd. it is clear that this modern stuff is not welcomed by people who had owned a countach or miura. But the most of human beings is lazy and ery comfortable. For example there are people who need a bose soundsystem in their xar because they dont want to hear the nice car sound, etc ..... And lamborgini has to follow this poor trend. BEcause they dont want to be out off business.

    Mit freundlich Grüßen Kosek

a hypercar lambo would be great, but this aint it.

its not about how good it is compared to the original murcielago - what hes saying is that it isnt selling as well as might be hoped.

joe if i owned or bought lamborghini... id put you at a managing director position

but still lamborghinis are different from lotuses

but im not trying to argue here... you have swayed me. they probably need to go on a diet... and i was disappointed when i read the superleggera only cut 150 lbs... and saw a backup camera and full nav system.

OHH that makes me a bit sad because i think the Murcielago LP 640 is the best car of the world.

    1. The great Design: oh my god i am speechless when i see the car created by Luk Donkerwolke
    2. The Sound wuuuw much better like V8 or the ugly Enzo
    3. The performance: 4wd has a bit understreering but 2wd would be better. But i think they introduced 4wd for their most customers which can handel the power only with 4wd.

Mhhmhm i would like to see some sketches or photos of the scale model of the mystrious Lamborghini. Has nobody done some photos underhandedly???^^

Did anyone here go to the thing at Monterey and see the car? I know people were sworn to secrecy but i'm curious if anyone went. Any "thoughts" on it for those who went?

But they remained partners in F1 for several years, and shared parts unlike if Toyota bought Lamborghini.

That also doesn't answer my question. Would the McLaren F1 be any less of a car though if it achieved the same results? And besides, why would it not? So it probably wouldn't reach 240Mph, big deal. Wasn't its purpose. But it using a Honda engine doesn't mean it wouldn't have been competitive or achieved the status of the ultimate driver's car.

Yes but still look at whats Happend to Lotus over the last few years, a Toyota powered Elise? WTF kind of **** is that?. I wouldn't lay down the bucks for something thats packing a toyota powerplant regardless of what it does.

I could just see a Toyota powered Gallardo, Oh god that just gave me shivers going down my back just thinking about it.

In a fairly recent article in Road and Track, they showed this picture as being the new Lotus Esprit? I'll try to dig it up and give you the issue it was in.

nonsense, does Toyota own Lotus? No it doesn't. Lotus decided it was better to source an engine within given budget and certain reliability from somewhere else rather than spending money developing it inhouse, and they choose Toyota, plain and simple.

sorry i dont get your point.
its not a high end supercar, its a built to a budget toy for track and occasional road use - something it excels at.

besides do you know what the previous engine used for the "lesser" lotus's was ? - a rover engine, hardly exotic.

fact is lotus has a long history of using engines from mainstream manufacturers.

now your simply being facetious and/or stupid.

What has lotus & toyota got to do with an over-priced Lambo?

Buy the car, drive it, enjoy it. What they do up there is beyond us.
