When the bidding closed on August 21, 2007 on eBay, it had been bid up to $92,100 but had not met the reserve. The eBay description seems more accurate and complete than some. The listing pretty much says that it is what it is, and the listing also certainly doesn't appear to make any extravagant claims for the car. For example, the listing says:

"THIS THEN APPEARS TO BE A COLOR CHANGE AND NOT A VERY GOOD ONE.THE INTERIOR APPEARS TO BE ORIGINAL AND THE EQUIPMENT CORRESPONDS WITH FERRARI'S ORIGINAL SPECIFICATIONS. MECHANICALLY WE SERVICED THE DINO,DID A COMPRESSION TEST AND THE ENGINE TURNED OUT TO BE SURPRISINGLY STRONG.IT DRIVES GREAT AND SOUNDS BETTER. IT CAME TO US WITH LITTLE EXTRAS. ONE LEATHER BOUND COVER WITH AN ADDITIONAL INSTRUCTION BOOKLET FOR USA VERSION CARS. THERE IS NO OWNERS MANUAL AND LITTLE IN TOOLS. I IMAGINE IN THE FINAL ANALYSIS WHAT YOU HAVE IS A GREAT CANDIDATE FOR A COSMETIC OR FULL RESTORATION. HOWEVER IT MIGHT FIT YOUR NEEDS THE FACT REMAINS THAT THIS DINO'S HISTORY IS NOW ARCHIVED AND INDELIBLE."

I am a little surprised that they apparently had a Ferrari Classiche report done on this particular car.

The description appears pretty fair to me. On the other hand, I'm not in the market for it.

i don't know if they had a classiche report done, or if this is the result of submitting photo's plus the possible entry fee. i haven't seen this type of report before. who is familar with what you get when you submit the fee to see if you qualify?

Here's what the passage in the eBay posting says (and you will note that I said that they APPEARED to have had a report done):

"WE INSPECTED THE CAR TOOK PICTURES OF THE CHASSIS, ENGINE,GEAR BOX AND OTHER NUMBERED COMPONENTS AND SENT THEM OFF TO FERRARI CLASSICHE. IN TURN WE CAN NOW SAY WITHOUT RESERVATION THAT THIS DINO IS A COMPLETE MATCHING #S CAR WITH DOCUMENTION."

Who knows? But, why go to the trouble, under the circumstances . . . .

Can someone transfer the ebay pictures and full description to this thread so that it will not be lost - it may be useful in the future.

i hadn't noticed the "asking price" prior to it being posted. if the description they give is correct, the car is a great deal at that price (or a little less if the asking price isn't met. original interior, owners manuls (minus a couple of books), decent body that needs a repaint and small blemish repair, low miles and documented history. like i sadi, "IF" the description is right, this is a car that the buyer will have a great time with at a very fair price.
