Yeah, but they don't do Opel in the UK. It's a Vauxhall like Chris said. But it's actually closer to the Lotus Elise than the GM cars.

BTW, the Opel Speedster is a slightly different car. The Opel GT (on the Kappa platform) will actually be replacing the Opel Speedster.

And FTW actually means "For The Win"... it is supposed to emphasize the statement/opinion that comes before it. :)

GM had to find a way to put the cheapest made material and the cheapest weilding tape into a production car .

While they do look similar, they are nothing alike. The vauxhall vx220 is a turbo charged re-bodied Elise, mid engine, rwd. The Solstice/Sky are front engine, rwd.

you're right.. let me add another image.. the Vauxhall VX Lightning concept... this is more in line with the GM/Opel line of Kappa cars.

    Happy now? :)

Are you saying the Solstice and the VX220 are the same car?

Even here in frigid northern MN Solstices' are running wild... VX220 looks a little cooler...wonder what it would take to import one...?

As someone else pointed out, the VX220 is actually based on the Lotus Elise.

Check out the other pic I posted of the Vauxhall Lightning concept... that's more in line with the Solstice design.

The reason people get confused is because Opel made the Speedster and the GT and because the cars look so similar. There are two car lines here:

    First ('00-'05)
    Vauxhall VX220
    Opel Speedster
    (based on Lotus Elise)

    and

    Second ('07-'09)
    Opel GT
    Saturn Sky
    Pontiac Solstice
    Daewoo G2X (South Korea only)

The first line is mid-engined and manufactured in Europe, while the second line is front-engined and manufactured in Delaware. The Opel GT replaced the Opel Speedster in mainland Europe, but because of the Delaware production location, the Vauxhall was not replaced (as GM decided it wouldn't be cost-effective for the Delaware plant to build a right-hand drive car).

To make things more confusing, the first line (VX220 and Speedster) actually shared engines with the GT/Sky/Solstice/G2X rather than the Elise.
