Steve H tells me several are pursuing Supercar Sets in the USA at the moment and there are multiple sets that can be available... Joe www.joesackey.com Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Maybe this is stupid, but it seems more satisfying to me to have to look for that perfect car and build your collection rather then just getting them all in a pack, but hey either way works
Id have to agree. Here is the GTO in the factory's own Supercar collection from my file. Its a pre-production car and if you look carefully youll notice the matte-black undercoating is absent on the undersides of the rear valances as was the case with the early cars... yep... I have seen that car and the enzo that was in there also had a preproduction look to it, with the air i guess slits on the nose having peely black paint comming up them just until you couldnt view it from a distance heres a picture of the enzo... you can see what im talking about and two poor photos of the GTO Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Very true, you cannot go wrong with this car - very easy on the eyes. I came across this old poster from 1984. And below are the genuine articles... Joe www.joesackey.com Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
A couple more pics from my archives, since this thread has become a picfest... first two are the ex-RL car, third is a local collection. Who can name all the other cars in the third pic? -Tad Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
I cannot name all the other cars, but I CAN tell you that the GTO pictured in the 3rd image is the 279th one built, chassis number 58345 fitted with AC and power windows. It belongs to my Miura SV-owning freind Ron Tonkin in Portland Oregon and it happens to be the very last GTO ever made by Ferrari SpA. Or so they say Joe www.joesackey.com
Hi Joe, your last pic of the 250 and the 288 has a calming effect on me, I actually gave a ;sigh; when it came into view. IMO the 2 most timeless Ferrari models, I will love them for ever. Thank you for posting that, it has made my day. James.
Yep, those are both my car when in Nawlins for the crescent classic with its previous owner. In the interior shot you can see the period Escort detectors as fitted by Ralph. The front one still works fine, but the rear just crackles. Mind you the detection is "period" in nature also - great for detecting the entrance to Best Buy near the highway, not so good for Ka radar
I'll also have a crack at the cars in the picture... 2 in the foreground first, then clockwise round, then the middle. F40, 288GTO, Americana of some sort Lincoln?, 2x Vette, Black V12 conv Fcar can't tell on pic, 512BB, Delorean, 328 GTS, White = TVR?, Alfa Montreal, 412, another 328 GTB/S, Diablo GT, 330 GTS, 365 GTS. I'm sure others can correct/complete.
First picture is the front of the business end of a 288 GTO. The second picture is of the same engine. There is something very rare with engine in this picture and it is factory. Steve Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Youre killing us...what is it? We are dying to know.... Oil transfer lines? Distributor configuration? Something to do with the gearbox? BTW here is a cool view of the 'box. Joe www.joesackey.com Image Unavailable, Please Login

Joe, It's the installation of the factory Oil Update Kit for 288 GTOs. It's part number 70000-60800-0000. Below is a picture of a NOS kit (taken out of the bag it came in with the p/n). The kit required one to move the oil pressure sender (which is missing in the photo where you would expect to see it) to a remote location (the engine strut across the top). I didn't know this kit even existed. It was only when the mechanic inspected the CA legal GTO I was going to purchase (this is back in 1993) and he made a comment how he never saw an oil line installation like this and the pressure sender was in a different location. But, he noted, everything looked "factory". That prompted a call to Ferrari and I got the explanation what this was. I also saw it listed in the repair records I received with the car from the original owner. GTOs, particularly when driven hard, had a problem with oil lines bursting. This was the fix to the (alledged) problem. I have seen this on a couple of other GTOs since. I don't hear too many people with GTOs without the kit complaining about an oil line bursting. I do track my car and I've never had a problem. I can't tell you if it is because of the oil update kit or not. It was probably more of an issue in Europe where people actually drive their cars. Sorry I am late to the party. Joe those great pictures are taken right here in Toronto on Avenue Rd. in front of the Ferrari of Toronto Boutique. Is that the recent 288 sale to Toronto we chatted about? Either that or it's the one owned by fellow a fchatter from London. Or - Luigi's, the former Ferrari dealer (before he passed away) also had one. That was the 1K car that was sold at the Maranello sale back in May.
One of the 2 288's repainted silver for a Mexican collector. This car was fitted with racing seat and belts, slick tires, ANSA megaphono exhaust and modified suspension. Image Unavailable, Please Login
I knew it! That was my first guess because I noted that yours had more lines emanating from the housing below the oil filter than I often see. Very cool. I love upgrades when they are factory because they are a result of received wisdom from owners who actually test the limits of there cars and the factory cares to remedy the weak link. Very cool. LOL, this thread is starting to yeild some knowlege BTW I wonder if the recieved oil-supply wisdom is from the Evoluzione... Joe www.joesackey.com Image Unavailable, Please Login
That is Michael S-S's car who also owns the F40 with it that day. He has a Miura SV of some interest (4868, ex-Rod Stewart) and thats how I know him. Hey I note your crafty switch of Avatar. Looks cool and its not the first time on this thread that a new pic Ive posted has become an adopted Avatar.... LOL Joe www.joesackey.com
Sam Bardor based in Mexico City and Houston had two silver 288 GTOs (both painted post-production), chassis numbers 54225 and 56335. Here is another Mexico-registered 288 GTO shipped over to Maranello for the 60th. Joe www.joesackey.com Image Unavailable, Please Login
Thanks for the info Joe. And yes, that avatar was a must for me....so thanks again LOL Any idea where Luigi's 288 went after it sold at Maranello via RM?
