    Hi all, really enjoy F-chat.

A year ago I purchased a black/tan 1981 400i serial #35477. Have enjoyed the car greatly. Can anyone help with history?

    Many thanks...Jim

The only thing I have on it is when it was for sale in 2006.

In addition to Dave's post, I have two later entries from 2009 and 2013.

    From 2009

Offered for sale out of Chicago with 22,000 miles and an asking price of $21K. Notes said:

"Paint touched up, some minor rust on top of windshield, exhaust patched, new TRX tires, rear self levelers replaced with Koni shocks, windows don't work, timing chain rails replaced, original leather in okay condition, a/c replaced with r134 but needs charge."

    Conclusion: "Needs TLC".

    From 2013

Offered by a seller in Ohio with 30,000 miles and an asking price of $23K. Notes said:

"Car in Cincinnati, 5th owner. Previous owners described as first in Chicago, then in Florida Keys still with first owner, then second owner in Colorado, owners 3, 4 and 5 all in Cincinnati. Radio doesn't work (Becker Europa possibly included), driver's window slow, right side has "hiccup", clock works but can't adjust, fuel gauge inaccurate, no tools but does have jack kit, some minor bubbles near windows, paint has crazing and spider webs. "good 10 footer", wipers work only on intermittent and next speed. Recent rebuilt front calipers and pads replaced, two new TRX on front, older TRX on rear with 60-70% tread and no dry rot. Door locks work from inside but key does not turn in the tumbler so car can't be locked when parked."

    Conclusion: "Still needs TLC".

Did you buy it from the Ohio seller and, if so, what was the condition then and now? Glad that you are enjoying one of these fabulous cars.
