I just got done reading Evo & WindingRoad magazine online about the future of Ferrari. Maybe some of you guys "in the know", really knows whats going on.

Personally I would like to see the next Super Ferrari the Enzo's successor have a V12. All these magazines are reporting that Ferrari will look to reduce the weight of the next SuperCar & this car will have a V8 like the F40. If that's true then what's the point in all the testing with the amatuer test drivers with the FXX's V12?

On Ferrari's website it said the FXX program's testing results will be used for future extreme models. Would they really use a V12 take those test result then build a turbo V8?

There's a lot more to a car than an engine. Suspension, wheels, electrics, plumbing, sensors, body materials, airflow management etc etc. I'd say the FXX is a wonderful rolling lab for Ferrari

With some of the cost underwritten by their best customers. I love it. (Btw- if I were asked to participate, and if I had the money, I would do it in a heart beat- just saying its smart by Ferrari).

    best regards,
    Jerry

+1. Besides, I'm more interested in knowing whether or not the owners now will get to have the cars once this testing is done.

What do you mean?? They are the owners of the cars. They paid for them and they will get to keep them and do anything they want with them, as they do now. RTB has answered that question several times.

The FXX program, along with the broader Cosa Cliente and Ferrari Classiche programs are hugely profitable and perpetuate the aura of exclusivity where is central to the Ferrari brand value.

Exactly, The FXX makes an obscene profit for Ferrari, just the way they like it

RTB said that one has already been sold. Ferrari just has to approve who they sell it to or something like that.

EDIT: I was actually thinking of this post which RTB responded to. It appeared from his response that one FXX did indeed change hands.

I am hoping for a lighter Ferrari supercar 1,000 kilos sounds like a great target. V8 with turbos is the way to go IMO. 12 cylinders are great for 599 as a GT

What other automotive brand has such a programme? None.

It gives clients and owners real access to the entire Ferrari operation, a way of better understanding their product and interacting with the 'scuderia' on an entirely different level.

When buying an FXX you are not simply buying a race car, you are buying an admission and an experience with the greatest automotive marque in recent history.

    question.

will a mid sized twin turbo V8 actually be any lighter than a V12 ?

yes the block and heads will be smaller but you need to factor in the following
    intercooler x 2
    turbo x 2
    extra pipework
    heavier duty cooling
    wastegate

plus a turbo engine generally needs to be "over engineered" compared to an n/a due to the various things the main ones being that the engine is under more stress due to it being forced induction and 2 because they generate a lot more heat.

Does anyone think it's a little odd that all the photos of this car could've been gotten off the internet pretty easily...if you were actually in possession of a $3million car wouldn't you take a picture of it?
