Nicks numbers must be 1:24:277. Lewis is showing some speed early.

Has anyone else noticed that McLaren aren't running the "bi-plane" front wing at Monza. Not really a surprise, just interesting.

I think the MP4-22 looks so much better without it.

Mclaren seem to have an advantage in both tight high downforce circuits (Monaco, Hungary) and low downforce circuits with lots of straights and chicanes (USPG, Canada). Hopefully Felipe can beat his time in the next test. I fully expect Mclaren to start the race very low on fuel, maybe just enough to run the full Q3 session, and on the soft tires. They will be very tough to beat.

We still don't know how much fuel everyone was using. For all we know, Ferrari were running a heavy fuel test.

Alonso outpaces Lewis in Monza test
    Wednesday, 29, August, 2007, 18:28

Fernando Alonso replaced his team-mate Lewis Hamilton at the top of the time-sheets as the McLaren drivers dominated the second day's testing at Monza.

The British rookie set a time of 1m23.454s before handing the car over to the world champion who lowered the mark to1m23.155s as he set-up planning his own Italian Grand Prix set-up.

Nick Heidfeld wrapped up his pre-Italian Grand Prix with more set-up and tyre evaluation work as he went third fastest, ahead of Jarno Trulli who was fourth for Toyota.

Kimi Raikkonen completed his running for Ferrari in fifth, more than 0.6s slower than his championship rivals. The Finn will hand over to Felipe Massa for what is scheduled to be the final day tomorrow (Thursday).

Raikkonen's compatriot Heikki Kovalainen reported no problems as he took over from Renault test driver Nelson Piquet junior to go sixth fastest.

"We had a good day, and the car got better with every run," he said.

"We worked hard so that by the end of the day, the R27 was well-balanced. I think this will be a good baseline to work from on Friday at the Grand Prix, and at that time, we will focus on fine-tuning the set-up to extract the final tenths of a second for the race."

Sebastien Vettel was an impressive seventh fastest for Scuderia Toro Rosso, ahead of Williams driver Alex Wurz who suffered an unspecified technical problem in the afternoon.

Honda test driver Christian Klien took over from stable-mate James Rossiter to go ninth ahead of Red Bull's Mark Webber.

Takuma Sato made a rare testing outing for Super Aguri, while Adrian Sutil was just 0.3s slower than the Japanese in the B-spec Spyker.

I pull for the driver...not team. While I love Ferrari, I do not really like either of their current drivers, although Massa is growing on me. I pulled for Alonso when he was at Renault and now at McLaren...I will pull for him if he drives elsewhere in 2008...I used to pull for Damon Hill and then Eddie Irvin...

I don't suggest anything and respect all opinions no matter if they are in tune with mine or not. I even would encourage anyone to express their opinion. What I don't encourage and find simply wrong is someone trying to make "ALL" cheer for the McCheater team on F-chat.
You don't go to a GIANTs game and cheer for the EAGLES, do you?

I know I've said before that tests don't really matter, and that we don't know how much fuel everyone is using, but McLaren sure are looking fast.

Massa was 4th today, over a second slower than Ferrari. I sure hope that Felipe was heavy on fuel.

Someone else also said that Ferrari usually has great race pace, which is very true;however it seem to be that qualifying is more of a race than the actual Grand Prix these days.

Ferrari had better step it up come next weekend.

    Thanks for the link.

Look at the difference in the wing designs between the Mclaren and Ferrari cars. Mclaren's wings look a lot more smooth flowing. Mclaren is running just one, nearly flat, wing at the back, and at the front they even removed that bi-plane top wing. Ferrari on the other hand are running two smaller, but significantly curved, wings at the back, and at the front they're still running their top wing. Also the radiator air intake openings on the Mclaren seem smaller than those on the Ferrari. Is Mclaren taking a gamble, or is Ferrari not able to risk running smaller intakes?

Let's hope Ferrari finishes 1-2 and Alonshole and Lewis are out of the points so Ferrari can move up in the points. Get it. ;)

    Huh?

Let's hope Kimi wins, with Felipe right behind him. It would be great to have Kubica get to two consecutive podiums at Monza, too.

As I have said before, McLaren are LONG due for a DNF.
