Renault would welcome back Alonso

Im not insulting anyone.(for Lightguy)...Its a well known fact that they were looking to slow down the Ferraris. Only problem was that they went too far thus the rule was reversed the next year. As for MS, he raced in over 250 races and racing incidents happen. People like the 2 of you keep harping back to 3 indiscretions of Michaels' but yet you always seem to back up Alonsholes' loose lips and childess moves on the track. Alonshole now has 100 race starts in his pocket and isnt even 1/5 the man Michael was on the track or off. Like I said before....its very obvious you never liked Michael...the greatest driver ever to sit in an F1 car. Your Ferrari backing is somewhat suspect as well. Its very easy to make the many suspect posts that some anti Ferrari and MS people on here make but I doubt very much they would make the same comments in a face to face gathering of F1 people...that is without being laughed out of the place.
By the way lightguy...the sign of a grownup is being able to look at EVERYTHING that is going on and then reach a verdict or opinon. Not just seeing what YOU want to see.

 

I was pointing out that relying solely on points standing does not present the true picture. One break, lucky or unlucky, can make a huge difference in a race as tight as this season's

JB has how 1 point this season, Ralf has 5, and Wurz has 13. Which of those three would you want on your team?

 

IF I was a team boss, I wouldn't want him. He's a very gifted driver, no doubt about it, but I grow really tired of his, " It's everyone else's fault" attitude.

 

^ and before everyone jumps on me about how he's been penalized and all, how did he get behind Hamilton in the points to begin with? He's been out-paced by a rookie, like it or hate it, that's what happened.

 

Some people here compare MS and Alonshole. This is just an oxymoron.

All you need to look at is Japan and Brasil '06.
When MS engine blew up, effectively taking him out of WDC, the cameras showed his mechanics crying and he went with a big smile and hugged and comforted each and everyone of them.!!!!!!!!!!
In Brasil there were cars that instead of their main sponsor, they ran Thank you on their wings, something that has never been done for anyone in F1 and speeks for itself. Not to mention that MS being old enough almost to be Alonshole's father, and already having announced his retirement (noting to win) gave the entire field a "driving lesson".
He may had as well run a banner on the back of his car saying "and that is boys how it is done"

PLease don't compare the two. You can compare Villeneuve, Montoya and Alonshole.
They are such a great bunch of talented guys..............

 

The best driver in the sport most certainly doesn't win every race. The same with the championship standings. Just look at MS in 2005. Should be all you need to realize that.

If I had a good team and those three were my only options, I would go with old JB. That is unless I felt my other driver and tester we weren't sufficient in developing a car, then I'd take Wurz. Apparently Wurz has a reputation as being a strong car developer.

He did ok in turkey starting from the back finished 13th I think..

I can remeber quite a few races from the last couple of years where Alonso has DNF'd or even WON and has come back to the media with some BS story of how he doesn't have support from his team, or how it's everyone's fault but his own. Especially in Japan, he would have NEVER been back in the pits thanking his crew for all of their support.

You have a very selective memory. Let me give you a history lesson, son. Let's talk 1996, 1999, and 2007.

1996: Schumacher exercised an escape clause in his Renault contract to leave the team a year early to move to Ferrari. He was contracted to drive for Renault in 1996 but cited the traction control debacle from two seasons earlier as cause to break his contract. This despite the fact that his illegal use of traction control led to his title win. He didn't have a problem with cheating when it suited him and he suddenly finds moral outrage when...it suited him.

Your "team player" used the flimsiest of excuses to turn his back on his team in 1996.


1999: In the heat of a title race, Ferrari calls on Schumacher to return to the team to support Irvine's quest for the WDC. Schumacher refuses, citing his recuperation from his broken leg is not complete. Luca calls Schumacher at home only to be told by Schumacher's daughter that her dad is outside playing soccer. Luca, understandably pissed off, informs Schumacher that if he is fit enough to play soccer then he is fit enough to return to the team and support their title hunt. Schumacher reluctantly does so.

Your "team player" was quite content to turn his back on his team in 1999 because the title they were seeking was not his.


2007: Ferrari recognizes that Schumacher will not be around forever and the team needs to sign a premier driver to replace him once he retires. The team actively courts Kimi Raikkannen. Schumacher lobbies hard behind the scenes to dissuade the team from hiring him, he tries every trick in the book including delaying his decision on retirement in an effort to derail Ferrari's negotiations. Finally he is given an ultimatum, drive alongside Kimi for 2007 or retire. Schumacher chooses retirement rather than drive alongside an equally matched driver.

Your "team player" would sacrifice his team's long-term prospects rather than accept a teammate on an equal basis in 2007.


There's your "team player". Schumacher's loyalty is and always has been to himself. The rest is BS.

 

Most of this is hearsay and you know it. This is the type of stuff conjured up by national enquirer type tabloids. When you talk about stuff to do with contracts and getting out of them......big deal thats all business and never ever did he ever dis the team or its many players nor the car. As for 1999 and irvine....again hearsay. I dont remember hearing any of that anywhere at the time. If it was so true it would have been all over the F1 news not in a local rag which is its most likey origin. As for Mike being afraid of Kimi....More hogwash as we can all see that Kimi is haveing a tough time getting ahead of Massa as Massa has outqualified the so called fastest man in F1 5-2 and both have won 3 races so far. Did it ever dawn on you that MS cared about the team that he did not want an undedicated driver coming over to the team. He likes Massa and has shown it by helping him develop into a winner. Kimi wont test, drives the car hard and like to drink heavily. Everyone in F1 knows it and my source is direct not hearsay. Its amazing when someone does so well how they love to try and drag him down. Michael was more dedicated to his team than anyone could ever imagine. If you want to keep spreading the gospel of local rags then go right ahead but then dont expect us to sit hear and listen like a bunch of bobble heads.

I have proposed it before and I will do it again. Find the Ferrari anniversary issue of Motorsports magazine and read the Niki Lauda interview about winning in Ferrari and F1 in general. He also has a thing or two about the new drivers and Michael Schumacher. And he is not someone who is talking out of his arse .

 

All of it has been well and thoroughly documented in the F1 press. It is hardly hearsay.

And I am so sorry I am more keen believing Niki Lauda over your all-knowing-firsthand-arse.
There are people who would go down in history as motorsports legends. I am not going to name them all as we all know who they are and they are a few. Some of them became champions and others did not but they had one thing in common. They were RACERS. And racers race to win. Pretty much at all cost. It is called dedication, commitment. People like JV (one commentator back in '98 said that if his father saw him drive would turn in his grave) and Alonshole, just to name a couple (who thinks that just because he is coming down the road everyone should just move out of the way) are never going to reach this legend status. In '05 Renault won with Alonshole, not the other way around. I would give him just a little bit more credit for '06 but not much ,as if MS engine didn't blow up in Suzuka and if Ferrari didn't f-up the stacked pitstop few races earlier Alonshole would see 2nd WDC just about never.
I don't mind people expressing their opinion about either Alonshole or Schumacher, or anyone else in F1.
But PLEASE,PLEASE, VERY VERY PLEASE, WITH CREAM AND SUGAR ON TOP, DON'T COMPARE THE TWO. It makes me sick in the stomach.

It's just funny to me how people who hate Ferrari actually decide to post on FERRARIchat, just doesn't make sense to me. Anyway, the whole issue with MS and his dedication to the team, people talk about how he left Bennetton, why don't you look to someone who was on the team, Steve Matchett has nothing but glowing things to say about Michael and his team interaction. This is someone who has worked with Michael, rather than comments from people who have never even met him.

Did he make poor judgement errors on a couple of occasions? Yes, everyone does, but no way is FA comparable to MS, no way. When FA starts approaching Schumacher's records, then try a comparison.

 

He already approached him on one. he starred in a movie (Pixar's CARS) As the crying baby in the background. LOL
