Good place to visit bad place to live. Better to venture a few miles north or south.

Laguna is probably one of the most child friendly towns in Orange County. It still has a small town feel in the winter but the place gets overrun by tourists in the summer. We usually take our 3 y/o to the park at main beach early in the morning and there many local families there with the kids. The car scene is a no brainer anywhere in California.

i have family in LB and its a nice town... the beaches are beautiful. i do agree with most, it is a little "gay" but i've been to miami and it seems more gay over there but i would live in LB. the restaurants are great and the people are cool. as far as the car scene, anywhere in so cal is big in exotics but still bev hills rules all. oh yea i cant forget the ladies, if your into blondes laguna is where its at

Nice little beach town on the coast about 20 minutes due west of us.

Downside: heavy-duty tourist traffic in the summer, compounded by the Sawdust Festival and Pagent of the Masters at summers end. Laguna Canyon Road can be a parking lot. Only easy way to get to the freeway.

    But, yeah I'd live there.

Other than this & the over-inflated real estate prices, it's a quaint little town. As far as high levels of gays, they are everywhere that is decent.
I've never heard Newport Beach & "seedy" used in the same breath - but yes, the peninsula (near the ferry) is dirty. Go towards Newport Coast & Corona Del Mar to get the best locale in So Cal (other than San Diego).

guess I missed the turn! I was around some places called the crab cooker and woody's something, i was surprised that I never saw the "Newport" I had heard so much about.
