Hi guys, Since we live in Canada and not Las Vegas - was wondering what experience us Canadian guys have had with Epoxy floors in our garages - especially with winter salt, etc. I heard the Rustoleum product is good. Looking for input. TDB
I use a clear PolyUrethane coating which works well on concrete and wood, even metal. The product is made locally in Toronto.

I did the epoxy on my floor. Looks great. Easy to clean. Not sure how it's going to stand up during the winter. It does get a little costly. My garage is just over 900sq'. I watched them do the job. The hardest part is the prep work. The floor has to be shot blasted before they apply the epoxy. After the slurry was applied they broadcast a sand top coat. The whole job took two days.

My experiance with the two part epoxy has been very good in South Carolina. It does get to the the mid teens F here. I used the Lowe's house band in house garage (500 sq. ft. 7 years ago ~ $100 and 2400 sq. ft. in the toy box 3 years ago ~$500). Even old brake fluid just wipes up, no lifting, it did stain a some where it sat for a while, but did not lift. You do have to follow the directions as far as degreasing, ecthing, temperature, and drying. I was lucky in the fact that I had virgin concrete with no oil issues. (I also pressure washed the concrete after ecthing.) It also reduced the amount of dust that uncoated concrete has. I think that Rustoleum and Garoit's Garage are great products, just more expensive. Transmission fluid, gear oil, and motor oil just wipe up with no staining. I did not use the optional multicolored flects which may hide imperfections, but also hide small parts that get dropped. I also used a very light grey shade which keeps the whole area a lot brighter. I did use two coat seven days in between and seven days before I put a tire on it. The biggest thing is follow the directions, follow directions, follow directions, follow directions. Oh, Did I remind you to follow directions.
I have decided to go with porcelian tiles on floor - slate gray in clr, and 4ft around the garage walls in red polished tiles. I figure its a couple weekends worth of work.

I am in the process of putting down plastic floor tiles that I purchased at the Home Depot. They snap together and allow drainage. They cost <$2.00 sq.ft. I have approximately 800 sq.ft of finished garage space to cover. I will post a picture once the floor is finished.

Those of you who did your floor with porcelain tiles, did you have any issues with them cracking under your car jack? I currently have kiwitile plastic tiles on my garage flool, pretty much same stuff as racedeck. I find that my race jack leaves some impression marks. I'm going to build a new house soon, and i think i'd prefer tiling or epoxying, although i wonder how it will stand up to Montreal winter timperatures.
Well, i can explain you my experience with Epoxy paint for floors, i just received a new product from the factory ISAVAL and it s pretty easy to put on floors. This Epoxy is with water, ISALPOX (fuilde resine). The first coat must mixed with water for a good penetration on florrs (cracks, hole..) the finition looks like a vernish. the second coat it s like your desire, i mean you can put: sand, colored particules, decorative materials...etc you can join a picture, a logo etc.... third coat again with the water epoxy.. TIME FOR DRYING touching 4H/ the real touching 4H/ or 16H (transit cars) price 353,40 FINITION brillante RENDIMENT 1l/m2 the finition it s really nice and very strong.
