We were hit pretty hard on the south side also, at my house, although I do have phones, I won't have electricity for at least another 48-72 hours. One of the 200+ yo Oak trees in my front yard came down, taking my power lines with it (the third in 2 years). Since it is only one house's power, ComEd isn't too concerned with it. Damage to houses, cars, trees and flooded areas are widespread. At one point, they closed nearby sections of I-80, 80-94, I-394, I-57 US-30 and many of the secondary roads. Good luck Skip. Bill
Rodney...I haven't posted to this thread for a while. Didn't think I could make it, as I just had a cholycyctectomy and have been off for a couple of weeks. I have tried to piece the testarossa exhaust back together over the last 2 days (repolished/etc), but it isn't going to happen by today. Is it ok to still come in another car (914)? I will be happy to park in a different area . Please let me know, as I look forward to seeing all of you guys again. I am of course an FOC member, etc. Bo Oops...just read the whole thread. Didn't realize the tension "not" bringing your ferrari might cause. Oh well, not a problem. Please clarify - If your car is out of commission you are not invited even though this is now a FOC event? If thats the case, I will be happy to respect that. Please let me know. Thank you.
What a fantastic day we had with weather and turnout! 2 dozen Ferraris and a bunch of other exotics and sports cars all made it to Rodney's beautiful estate with its own pool and golf course. Special thanks go to Dave for organizing the drive, to Carla for last minute changes in the route to avoid storm hit areas and of course to Rodney and his lovely girlfriend for their great hospitality. Kudos to top three winners of the people's choice awards: Matt (?) and his stunning Fiorano, Chelle and Haley for the monster (I wish everybody gets a chance to hear this thing come alive on the highway, it does more than honor to the original) and Joe for his red F430. Here some shots. If I missed somebody's car, let me now pls, I got plenty more pics. It was a great time. Here is a panoramic that I stitched together. The drive was fun and seeing all of the cars was a treat. Image Unavailable, Please Login
Great Everything and a Perfect Day for It Too! Rodney, thank you for being such a great host!! Carla, thank you for providing the route maps!! Andreas, thank you for putting the car award ceremony together, and your usual wonderful photographs of the event. I was really pleased to see such a good number of cars that participated from Illinois and Wisconsin. I was able to meet many new car enthusiasts who are driving more than Ferraris. I like to see a other marks at events. Will be thinking of everyone when we drive to Corning for the FCA Nationals this week. Norbert
As usual, great event. Great weather! Thanks Andreas, Dave, and Carla. Special thanks to Rodney. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Nothing like spending a great afternoon with some great friends! Rodney, thanks for hosting this great event. It was fun cruising with all of you both up and back from the event. Andreas, the prizes were fantastic, Congrats to all the winners.
Great to see everyone again and to meet new folks, and a big thank you Rodney for opening your home for this event. It was nice to have a quiet, relaxing and wonderful Sunday...until all the cars fired up, then it was just plain wonderful!
Just want to thank all for attending. Although many stayed for 3 hours or more the time went by quickly. Wish some could have stayed longer. I'll look to see if I want do this again next year. I probably will. The catering thing is the most difficult. They required 5 days advance notice. I have some new ideas for the food. Maybe do the Cousins party sub(s) thing. I only need to give Cousins one or two days notice for that. Plus maybe some good potato salad from V Richards plus potato chips etc. I had to commit to the caterer 5 days before the get together. With all the rain we had prior to the get together I was very nervous that it may rain that day and only a few would show up. That would have left me with a lot of food. It is too hard to say if the weather will be good or not 5 days in advance. Maybe one year I can do pizza delivery? I also have an idea that I may just have several local ladies make a few dishes and have them deliver them. That would be good food and I would be able to tell them only two days before the get together. Hope everyone had a great time. What a sight to see 10 -12 cars come around the corner at one time. What a sight to see so many fine cars in my front yard. Several other owners did not show up. It would have been nice to have that many more even. Maybe next year the FCA will not have an event on a Sunday we choose and they may attend also. The weather could not have been better. It rained the day before and the day after. What good luck. Rodney, Wish I could have made it; its been a long time Bro! The storm hit me hard. You probably remember the big trees in my yard; well, most of them are destroyed. Had a tree across my driveway so I couldn't even get the F-car out. I'll try and come up to visit you soon.
Sorry I missed it... too much work, in the middle of moving... wife who is really cool about all things Ferrari would have killed me had I left! Actually, if I had a Mondial, and could have brought the 3 kids, she would probably have been fine with me leaving!
Rodney, Looks like you had a very nice event and the weather could not have been nicer. Congrats on what appears to have been an EXCELLENT Ferrari get together! I really wish I could've made it, however without the FCar it wouldn't have been right. Thanks for the open invitation. If you do it again next year, count me in!!! JIM Ft. Wayne
Ouch! Note to myself: Need to dig out that racing video where the Lambo struggles mightily trying to get past the Honda.
"HE"......The fly above the "FERRARI" on the cake picture above... I believe that 'HE' was the event mascot. JIM
The Brundlefly that was travelling to WI inside a Ferrari. Makes me wonder: If you're inside a Ferrari with a fly going at top speed, will you develop a craving for sugar when you get home?
