    As some of you may have heard on the news Friday early morning a drunk driver got onto I95 on the wrong side of the road (going northbound in the southbound lane). He collided with a motorcycle head-on and killed Erik instantly, His girlfriend died in the hospital a few hours later.
    Erik came from Venezuela just a few months ago. He has worked at Ferrari/Maserati of Caracas for some time and decided to start a new life here in the US to escape the communist dictatorship of Chavez. He started a internship with Alain from ANSA a few months back and was in the process to get his permanent visa ready to start working full time for Alain as a race mechanic.
    Erik was 24 years old and had the passion for Ferrari. His eyes lid up when he talked "shop" and could work on "his" cars. Erik has uninstalled a 360 Engine for me and has installed one of my Miata engines (even that he did with pride and joy). Sadly he will not be there tomorrow when we take that Miata out for its first track test.
    The Ferrari Community has lost a great talent and more so a great enthusiast.

    Thoughts and prayers are with Eriks family in Miami and Venezuela as well as his girlfriend and her family.

    Two lifes lost to someone that had prior convictions in drunk driving, driving on the wrong side of the street along with other senseless acts.

    Missed but not forgotten.

    Rest in Peace!

    Wow, what can I say? that s--ks. Since I had my son I havent taken the ducati out. Its really dangerous out there. My condolences to his family and friends.

    I heard the news about this young couple early, brought back uncomfortable thoughts. Accident happened around 3:30AM, too many bad drivers. Not fair.

    what a tragic waste of two good lives.... someone i knew died two days ago on his bike after being slammed into by a pickup truck.- i hope it reminds us all to cherish the moments we have because we truly never know.
