Last year the Tour of Spain was a glorious experience, and my 330 GTC behaved beautifully, with my wife navigating to the best of her abilities. So this year I signed up the Dino for the October tour of Spain and Portugal, and convinced a friend to navigate with me in a more "competitive" mode than my wife had.

We have just been practicing for a week. All went well, my friend's navigation skills are outstanding, and we had a great time, until the last day of my friend's visit, when we decided to simulate a full rally evnvironment, with helmets on (mandatory in closed road sections). To our surprise and disgust, my friend, who measures exactly 6 feet, does not fit in the Dino with his helmet on !!!

I measure 5' 8'' and never thought there would be a problem. I don't see any way of lowering the seat! Unless I saw two inches of my friend's head, it looks like the 330 GTC will have to roll again... I am very dissapointed in my Dino ( I guess being the most beautiful car in the world has a price). Any ideas? How do you tall yankees do it?

    Cheers,

    Julio

I am 6'1" and I had no problem wearing a helmet in my 246. I no longer have the car ;(, so I cannot look for ways to adjust it. Perhaps you could raise the front of the seat with longer bolts, and spacers under the rails. That would change the angle of the seat back.

Julio - I had the same issue a few years ago when I was pondering the purchase of a Dino. You could quickly try this idea - remove the passenger seat and see if your friend fits sitting on the floor. If so, perhaps a race shop can build you a seat shell (similar to aluminum Kirkey seats available in NA) that will bolt directly to the floor mounts and be of only a nominal thickness. The only other option would be a Zagato-like double bubble for the roof. Good luck!

    Buy a 246GTS,
every tall driver fits in those when the roof is removed!

Indeed... That's a GTS advantage I had never thought of.
