Sure, I'll send him an email. I'd be interested as well. And for fun, I'll make a post about my experience there in your other thread.

Ever have it properly served - as in Shashlik? We'd whack 3 spring lambs every fall, chop 'em up, marinate for 3 days, skewer & start a fire... then serve to a bunch of hungry farmers to celebrate the harvest, ranch-style. No need to wait for Turkey Day - that's for amateurs.

OMG! I think of Sping lamb and the visual of Homer Simpson drooling over a beer comes to mind! Don't puke, but I like regular French's mustard on lamb and pork chops!

Sounds tastey, but I like mine plain - no fire or marinades applied :)

I grilled out yesterday and each steak was $25 a piece. They were big and a little thick but that was a lot I thought especially when I had to cook it.

Texas cattle has taken it on the chin from the severe drought conditions of the past three years in prime cattle country SW of San Antone.....they ran out of hay and had to thin all herds down to minimal breedstocks....or even total sell off.

NOW this year, we have had 95 days straight of above average rainfall so all's good, but there's no herds on it, until repopulation occurs...

I have no idea how that really impacts nationwide pricing, really....

My brother has hardy Longhorns and last time I checked he had plenty, but he's more of a Tax Haven kind of operation on his acreage..they guard the one Ferrari left in his barn......LOL!

I've had really good luck with steak from Costco. Very, very good cuts of beef that aren't outrageously priced.

    Try it!

Ya'll just need to call your nearest rural packing house and order a black angus half. Go in with a neighbor. When they have one brought in by a farmer they call you, you pay under $2 per lb average for hamburger to Tbones and you fill up your freezer. We eat steaks like junk food this way. Only once got bad beef, and they took it all back.

It appears that pork prices are going to rise even faster with a large part of our pork supply going to China as they have some deadly pig disease that's ruined their pork industry.

At least we're selling SOMETHING to China.

eat Buffalo: they live off the natural grass, and are leaner and better for you. Whole Foods or talk to your butcher....that's all we've been eating in red meat for over two years....

holy crap, $1.50-$2.00 a pound here in Indiana. I got a 3-pack of decent steaks for $14 two days ago. I guess the midwest is good for something, after all. I get corn for dirt cheap!

I'm missing something at Ruth's. I haven't gone there in about 4 years because the previous 2 times they brought the steak out bleeding when ordered medium well. I sent them back and they cooked them properly but, guess what it was the same steak which is fine if you don't coat it with butter to make it sizzle the first time out. So needless to say they tasted like burned butter. Any way my wife grandparents wanted to go there 2 weeks ago. and who am I to turn down a free meal. :) :) I go I order the steak medium this time hoping it won't need a band aid when it comes out. Guess what?? It was bleeding to death on my plate. I didn't bother asking for it to be cooked some more I just ate it chilled center and all. My creamed spinich on the other had was very good and the creme brule for dessert was fantastic. I know they are not in the same league "quality" wise but it's hard to beat a 12oz Outback Special for the money.

Had a BBQ with some friends last night. I bought 8 boneless rib steaks for about $60 at Costco. May sound funny but they seem to have the best beef around here. Unless I just want just one steak or something I won't buy it anywhere else.

try whole foods for steaks as well.

Today's dinner is Pork, Smoked pork over hickory with Applewood in the water. 1 of the pieces bathed in unfiltered apple cider vineger/mustard the other just smoked along with the first.

fresh green beans & mashed potatoes (Dan Quayle spelling) the potatoes mashed with butter and a few ounces of sour cream, 1 egg and a handfull of cristalized ginger. then baked for 1/2 hour

I wouldn't mind some good Montana Beef.

Wanted to bump this a little...

What is the best grade of steak, chicken, fish, pork, to buy? Seems like all the stores have some kind of marketing twist to try to promote it as the "best"?

Also, it seems like every restaurant/steakouse has "prime beef"? I thought it was suppose to be pretty rare. Can you buy prime steaks at any grocery stores (Wegmans, Bristol Farms, ect.)?

How do you prep and cook your steak on the grill?
