Steve Jobs announced that the price of the 8gb iPhone will drop to $399, effective immediately.
That's me... god******! I never waited in any line though... I guess they charged a $200 premium for the initial "gotta have it" crowd. Oh well, it is what it is.
I can't help but wonder if the "updated" iPhone is just around the corner and Apple needs to blow out inventory?
I think they knew their was X number of people who would pay 599$, and now after sells will hit 1,000,000 units this month, it's time to go after the main stream crowd, who wouldn't bite at 599 but will at 399$. They aren't dumb. they know EXACTELY what they are doing. look at imac/macbook sells and market share for last two years. refelected in the recent $139 stock price
unfortunantly for us, we where in the 599 crowd, but I love mine and so does my wife neither one can imageing going back to a reg smartphone.
So Apple made a cool $200 MILLION off early adopters in one month? Kind of a harsh way to treat it's fans...
I may bite on it this Christmas, but I'd really like to wait and see if they come out with one with GPS.
Any news on when they will release the software update for the current iPhone? and what it will change?
You may want to call Apple on their Price Protection Policy. As well, dependent on your purchase date and use of some credit cards, you may have recourse. I know someone who has complained to both places, Apple and ATT and ATT already gave him a $50- credit to his bill. As well, they gave him a case for his complaint within Apple. Time for me to buy one. Anyone want a black jack?
Jobs said the iPhone update would come later this month. It will include the iTunes WiFi music store and the new partnership with Starbucks so that you can instantly download whatever songs are being played at your local Starbucks while you're there on their WiFi network. Not sure what else the upate will include.
Will it still make you sign up for a T-Mobile hotspot account to use the wifi at Starbucks? I can't get on starbucks wifi without getting that account. Does the iphone let you use multiple e-mail accounts like the blackberry does?
All I care about is that I hope they significantly improve the email interface.... and being able to save photos from the web/emails to the hard drive, and copy/paste.
I doubt it. There will be a new icon on the iPhone that pops up when you enter a Starbucks WiFi zone. Apple and Starbucks have a partnership in this deal, so I can't see the need for a T-Mobile hotspot account.
