Increasing attention is now being paid by law enforcement to street racing, and claims of driver recklessness, or worse, on Internet chat groups. All of us have experienced the visceral thrill of driving on the edge. Hopefully, as we mature, we confine it to the track, or to sanctioned events where we do not put others in harm's way.

We cannot, as a community, encourage reckless driving behavior on public thoroughfares, any more than we would condone drunk driving, or other activities which put not just the driver, but others, at mortal risk.

Therefore, F-Chat reserves the right to remove any postings that inappropriately encourage or glorify reckless driving behavior on the streets. Persistent posting of such material may subject such users to temporary or permanent suspension of posting privileges on F-Chat, without limiting the other steps F-Chat may take or may be required to take, under compunction of law.

This is now a part of the TOU at FerrariChat. So please use it as a guideline as to what is and is not allowed here.

It's simple. If you want to drive like a maniac, don't. But if you do anyway, don't post and don't brag. If you are planning a run, that's great. If you are planning on breaking the law during that run, KEEP IT TO YOURSELF.

If, when you get back from that run, you have broken the law, KEEP THAT TO YOURSELF TOO.

Thanks all, your 100% cooperation on this is appreciated.

Seems to me that those who posted about reckless behavior were quickly ostracized here anyway. Nevertheless, a good rule. Reminds me of a recent run in with a Z06 owner who, after he found out I had a 430, was anxious to show my a pic of his speedo showing 175. When I asked if it was on a public road and said yes, I quickly called him every name I could think of to show how stupid and how big a menace I thought he was.

    Because he asked me too.

This has been tossed around for a bit with Rob and the mods, run past the leagle eagles here, and was already posted in one of the regions, it made sense to put it here where it was easier to find.

No offense. More of an inside joke for my brother in law. He is a local PD seargant and pokes around on these forums a ton. Have to raz him as much as possible. Probably the craziest driver I have ever met too.

I second this rule 100% but I have a question, What if someone talked about somebody he or she knew did some reckless driving in the past, is that against the rule?

depends on the state, how severe the crime, and if that person were wanted.

So the implication here is that F-chat is now policing subscriber's driving behavior? The impact of this is far reaching so I think that subscribers should be very clear on what this really means. How does this affect other activities that could be construed as not within the law and that could be by chance posted here?

Are you sure F-chat wants this responsibility? Say someone has posted wreckless driving behavior of a certain individual who later wrecks and kills. If those posts were not removed by F-chat could F-chat be held liable?

Just trying to get some clarification so everyone knows what the consequences are of breaking the law and posting about it.

I thought the wording in the original post was pretty clear. Whether someone breaks the law or not is up to them, but we don't need to have it glorified here. We have similar policies regarding pro-racism, physical threats and so on. Post something in that vein and the posts will be deleted.

That is typical. The cops do the illegal things BUT we get caught.

There are alot of sites out there that have specific areas that discuss some of this type of driving. Alot of these guys even post videos of their endeavors. Which I find pretty amazing.

While, I have never been acused of driving slowly. (My gf likens driving with me to 'track practice'...but that's a whole other story.)
I can't imagine posting an incriminating video of myself......essentially braking the law. I am surprised that the boys in blue aren't busting speeders from these videos. Oh, that's right.......they have their hands full with all the illegal aliens!

Don't really know about the legal consequences. I do know that if you break a rule here, you can get temp or permanently banned.

And I do know that the folks who mind the legal angles here helped write it, and suggested it be posted.

I think that the policy is clear, at least from my NON-BINDING, non-legal perspective. If you want to go on high speed runs, that's your business. It stays your business until you make it public, then it can be everyone's business. Not limited to members here, but to law enforcement, lawyers looking for information pertaining to civil suits, etc. Posating it here makes it everyone's business.

I think the point is, keep it your business. And that makes good sense to me.

they are - our member 2Nastie has had to pull videos from his website and has had some personal sessions at the local tax collector office. Apparently they don't believe that 300km/h+ in an Enzo was emulated.

This may be a NA based forum but there are members here from places where spirited driving is legal and accommodated.
Does this new rule apply to everyone or only those in countries affected by this police observation?

Man - too bad a simple interest forum has to deal with legal issues. That's why some of us have the resources and talent to discuss most stuff off line in another forum with NO F*CKING RULES.

I'd say videos of 190mph on the highway don't fly either. Not cool. That doesn't even take any skill, in fact it takes stupidity. Good rule Dave.

Let me help you out. No one has any interest in policing your driving behavior. That's precisely the point. If you want to drive drunk, or at 150 mph through a town, no one here in Internet land is going to be in a position to stop you. But, if you post your exploits here, or otherwise attempt to glorify such behavior by posting on the site, you will probably be making a quick exit. Why? The board cannot condone such activities, nor be seen to in any way encourage them. Get it?

Believe me, most of us have enough to worry about without playing into Big Brother scenarios.
Who am I? The guy who drafted it.

Please, no reason to put FerrariChat.com down for this. Most of us know how to have a good time and be smart about it on the streets and online. These rules are for the outliers, most of you don't need to take it personally.

Good rule. I would have thought it was intuitive.
I will also say the same concept may apply to mechanical mods involving emissions equipment such as catalytic converters, no?
    Thanks

Remember the time that I posted about driving 250 MPH in the fog while high on pot and Quaaludes after drinking 2 bottles of tequila with an underaged girl? If I posted that today would I be banned???
