I have a feeling this is could get interesting.

Erik, Stefano La Motta was killed in this car during a crash at the 1951 Giro di Sicilia, after which the car was officially "scrapped." According to one website which is owned by a fellow F-Chatter:

No, he was killed in an Alfa Romeo, as far as I remember (at least not in a Ferrari)...

    Exact Vroomgt.
On these Borrani's Cabo Sports, the knock off nut replaced later on racing cars the first octagonal hub nuts Borrani delivered on the 20 first Ferraris in 1948-49.

Confidential information I'm afraid Jim, that is I received it as confidential. Just wanted to say history did not stop in 1951, but details about possible present whereabouts and/or recent history are not known to me.

Not only do the grill openings look different, imo it looks like the shape of hood scoops are different as well. If the car was pranged, there may have been a bit of repair.

Yesterday, I had the pleasure to speak with Prince Igor Troubetzkoy at the phone. I asked about the color of his Ferrari 166s #001s... Red or blue? Unfortunatelly, he doesn't remember... The Prince is now 96 years old and maybe the oldest Ferrari pilot in the world.

It's the oldest; because Philippe Maillard-Brune is died last week.

Thus you passed the stopping of his Christiane wife, congratulation !
A good friend is in relation with "Prince Igor" since it met it for an interview in the review "Ferrari Club" last month, june issue.

Congratulation...? Remember that: I asked only Prince Igor about the color of his former Ferrari!

    Dear Giotto,

Congratulation because it's not easy speaking with Prince Igor, his wife takes care on her old husband. That's all.

But the oldest Ferrari driver it's not Igor Troubetzkoy, born august 23 1912, 95 years old, not 96. It's another french, Guy, Robert, Pierre-Louis DREYFUS aka HELDE or ANO or FERRET born in Paris july 17 1908 and the oldest driver of the world 99 years old.

June 25 1949 24 Heures du Mans Ferrari Touring barquetta 166 MM s/n 0010 M, "FERRET"/Jean LUCAS, DNF after 53 laps, accident in Maison Blanche.

Thanks JLDavier... I didn't know the name of Prince Igor's wife... She was very kind a the phone. I spoke only a few words with the Prince. Will somebody ever know the real color of #001s...?

It is interesting he does not remember the colour of his car. In the June edition of "Ferrari Club", the french official Ferrari magazine (number 12) he admits his memory sometimes fades away, but about the Targa Florio he says he still remembers the event as if it was yesterday. Very detailed he speaks about the race and in detail how some 3 km in front of the finishline the engine started to hiccup and stalled, not being able to restart. With the finish line in sight they still had the speed to be able to cross it with silenced engine and the gear-box in free.
He never liked his position as "being just a paying customer to Ferrari", although the Ferraris he received from the factory were always well prepared.
A serious accident on the Albi circuit in August 1948 took the edge off his racing passion. This, and also the loss of life of several racing friends, made him decide to stop racing in the wake of the 1949 racing season.

This photo was just posted on the interesting Targa-Florio site. I never saw this car and there are some differences with #001s (shorter wheelbase, shorter tail, wheels...). Is this #001s or another car?
