Monza Qualifying **spoiler**

I hope you are wrong and the Ferrari engineers can make adjustments. The speed tv announcers said it looked like the F-cars had a problem using the curbs when heavy with fuel.

 

Just read this on planet f1:
Kimi Raikkonen suffered a huge shunt in Saturday's final practice for the Italian GP, crashing into a concrete barrier at 200mph. Coming into Curva del Serraglio, the Finn's car veered to the right sending him into the concrete barrier.

 

Thought they were taught to take their hands off the wheel.... What a hit!! I'll be surprised if that engine lasts the race. Nice to see Kimi is ok...How on earth does one climb back in to qualify after that? These guys are amazing.

 

After reading about it I thought it was a head-on, but since Kimi hit tangentially maybe a lot of energy was scrubbed off sliding along the way.

 

Still had to be a little rough. He must be sore at least.

 

McLiaren is really getting a lot out of their new front wing (maybe there are other changes, but they now show dominance on high-speed and handling circuits).

They'll win the race (most likely), but it probably doesn't matter anymore. Too bad they had to be stupid as this has easily been their best season this century. I'm a little disappointed with the Scuderia, as you would always assume they would be prepared to win their home grand prix. Probably didn't see the McLiaren changes coming.

That session was very anticlimactic. I want FA to win this race to keep Ferrari in the hunt. If LH takes this one then barring disaster for Hamilton in the rest of the season, McLaren will take the titles. I don't subscribe to the belief that the FIA will disqualify McLaren. If it did happen though, I hope Mercedes will come out to compete alone - great history there.

I would assume that he's a little heavier than Massa. His times in the replacement car have been .3-.4 slower than Massa (almost a sec slower than Alonshole) so the best you can do is try to extend his stint.

McLiaren has looked unbeatable since the testing session at Monza last week.

 

So, it is time then for their long overdue DNF

 

Kimi has blown it again.....Massa is a better driver and will be there next season.....Kimi I dont know. He has had and caused more failures than MS had in 6 years. You have to wonder.

Kimi had very little laps on friday's #2 practice, and he had a freaky crash on saturday practice. I would cut him a bit of slack, since he hasn't had a real good chance to set up the car properly to his liking.

Anyways, I bet Mclaren's strategy is to start off on the soft tires to get a better take off during the starts, and to run very light at the start in order to minimize the manditory soft tire stint.

 

We've been cutting Kimi slack all season. He can't cut it in qualifying. He has good race speed, but not good enough to pass on track. His idea of "slowing down to see how fast I could have gone" is childish at best. Who cares how fast he could have gone? Everybody would go faster if they weren't running in somebody's fumes - it doesn't prove anything. I'm going to bet he has a very uneventful Sunday drive tomorrow. It will be one of those races where he just looks uninvolved and will just hold on to fourth place - very uninspired.

 

I just can't get excited over a race that becomes meaningless in a few days when the FIA turns the championship on its head.

And even if the FIA won't, there is not much to expect from this race or championship: McLaren are faster, which we knew all along since Monza testing a few days ago.

 

Do you think they will? I think they will feel the pressure to keep Hamilton running and will back off of actual sanction. I wouldn't be surprised if Dennis was gone for a while and McLaren was forced to pay large sums of money, but in the end they will be sure to keep Hamilton in the car and in the lead. What would the F1 market be with just Kimi and Massa? Is anybody really a fan of either driver, or is it just the car? Hamilton and Alonso have huge dedicated fanbases, and it would be stupid from a pr standpoint to throw them out.

I'm a big fan of Kimi. Actually my new racing helmet is currently being spray painted in his style.

And surprisingly even Massa has some fans. At least here on FChat.
