    Yeah, can't wait!

Something tells me a Bugatti project would take much longer than Pininfarina's venture with the P4/5... More politics involved I think.

I don't remember discussing it, but have you thought about buying a Ford GT to have it redesigned as a MKIV? That could be pretty interesting as well... Seeing as you don't have a Bently Speed 8 that I know of, could be cool to have a old-> new of your race cars.

The new Ford GT very cool but I have no interest in going down that road.

I believe that is already under work right now by a small custom shop in southeast Michigan either at ASC, or Genaddi... I'm not 100% sure ATM, but there is somebody working on a 427 SOC MK GT 40 anew...

I dont get it. What would this do? It doesnt seem as such a radical undertaking. Interesting idea, but its like taking a new 07 Mustang, and saying your going to make it retro. Something retro-styled would look goofy re-retro-styled. IMHO of course. I think the proportions would look a little different, and the thing would probably not be as fast due to weight I would guess. Who knows. Jim, having been around your GT40, is the GT a bigger car?

However, if Pininfarina can take a 550 Barchetta and make it into a 166 throwback, then, I will eat my hat!

Don't own either but I can tell you for certain the Ford Gt is significantly bigger than the gt40. The Gt 40 is 40 inches tall, hence the name. They had to increase the size for the new model, otherwise no decent size person could drive it.

The Ford GT is based on the GT40's, rather than the MK IV. A radically different car, though based on the same program. I think that it would be rather interesting. To each his own I suppose. The GT is a bit larger than a real one. 4 inches taller if I remember correctly. Slower than the real one though? Top speed, definitely. Anything else? I would highly doubt it.

As we speak he's over at PF completing her 4K mile service. We're changing the exhaust, making some rain channels as when we drove her in the rain for several days the nose didn't extract the water totally, changing her tires as we wore them out with hundreds of miles of track testing and the 9000+ turns of the Historic Targa, changing her wiper blade as at 200 on the banking it didn't work as well as we want it too, moving around some of the switchgear to suit me better, changing the fluids,
Tightening and locktighting some bolts, removing a bolt from the gas tank area that was rattling around from original manufacture (Ferrari's Fault) and checking everything.

We're not going to touch up the edge of the spoiler where the high speed runs burnt off the paint as it looks pretty cool and is all part of it.

You burned the paint off of the spoiler? That's pretty interesting, I never thought that could happen. Do you have any pics of it?

You make a good point, to re-retro a car that was designed with retro in mind would be a bit silly IMO. Taking the Enzo and turning it into a tribute to the P4 actually changes the whole attitude and look of the car. Taking a GT40 and changing it into a GT40 would just be redundant.

It is. It's a thin line at the edge of the spoiler that follows the path of the air. When the car gets back in a few weeks I'll snap a photo.

Jim I heard rumors that the P4/5 model was cancelled. Can you shed any light on it's development? Wasn't Mattel going to release a version?
