http://sport.guardian.co.uk/motorsport/story/0,,2165884,00.html "Lewis Hamilton yesterday revealed his fear that the ongoing political row surrounding McLaren could ruin his debut formula one season and even leave him out of a job before Sunday's Belgian grand prix at Spa-Francorchamps. After finishing second behind his team-mate Fernando Alonso in the Italian grand prix - a result that cut his lead at the top of the drivers' championship to three points - Hamilton said he was worried that his team principal and mentor Ron Dennis might be hounded out of the sport. Rumours were circulating at Monza that following inquiries into the leak of confidential technical information from Ferrari the team would get a clean bill of health only if the 60-year-old resigned his post." Obviously nobody knows the details of the evidence except the FIA, Mclaren and Ferrari but this rumor was repeated yesterday on Speed's Wind Tunnel when they interviewed Alan Henry. Here's what he said: 1. The real objective of the FIA and Ferrari is to see RD out of the sport as payback for what the GPMA did when they threatened to split with the FIA. If Dennis resigns all will be forgiven. 2. There's going to be a blood bath on Thursday. Other team(s) cheating/dirty laundry will be made public by Mclaren as part of their defense. I am a Ferrari fan and if Ferrari was wronged I hope justice is served but it looks to me that this will damage the sport more than the Indy fiasco in 05.
Its obvious that McCheater will drag down as many as possible with them. They dont have the balls to come out and just say sorry we blew it and we are at your mercy and get on with business.
...nope. F1 is technical competiton, and a encouraged technical one, who solves it better wins. within the rules...like it or not, push is not braking unless caught?...not quite. they broke? YES...but if the new evidence is conclusive, solid, irrefutable about USING IT...they deserve the BAN, the FINE, the SHAME, the LOSS... IF THEY DID NOTHING WRONG, why is RD offering his neck?...wasnt he cleaner than clean?...Norbert Haugh is gonna be pleased.
IF THEY DID NOTHING WRONG, why is RD offering his neck?...[/QUOTE] While I doubt Mr. Dennis will resign over this, if he does it would be as a honorable gesture to protect the sport he loves, F1...unlike Ferrari where honor does not translate well...
Ron Dennis Was due to retire anyway this spy row may have just hastened his exit. And by the look of him after winning at Monza he will be glad to out of it a totally shattered man.
Has RD been quoted as offering to resign or is that merely the rumor? I know he has been phasing himself out, hence the sale of 30% of the team to the middle eastern investors. Still, I can't see him resigning like this.
Just imagine if Mclaren had any honor at all, they would have stopped this whole mess from the beginning.
thats was he just offered...although thats the devils job right? ...dont worry, he´s not going anywere that´s not within Paris... place de la concorde isnt it?
RD resigns, McLaren becomes a full MB factory effort. I could almost forgive my wife for wearing her Kimi McLaren hat from a few seasons ago because "she likes the silvery finish." Next hurdle: on track passing...
LOL althought, I AM a LH fan, my wife was HOOTING for his passing Kimi yesterday: reason ... her maiden name is Hamilton [ I keep reminding him she's black, but that doesn't fly....kind of like her rooting for the 49'rs because they wear Ferrari-red --> oh, the logic of women.....and yet they pick the winning superbowl teams each time based on their extensive background of how players comb their hair ] RD to resign would mean NOTHING. It would mean he had knowledge of the entire affair and did nothing or condoned it, which I find hard to understand even for a so called cheater..... RD will remain unscathed UNLESS evidence points otherwise..... We'll see Thrs...until then, let the post-battles begin [Not talking about you Len S]
after that fake email stuff, who would want to believe this. plus, Ron didn't steal those documents. no reason for him to resign.
+1 Regarless of the verdict on Thursday, the sport will be damaged. If McLaren gets into serious trouble, we will be handed the championship, and no one wants to win the championship that way. If McLaren are declared innocent, Ron Dennis will probably win the contructor's title. The thought of it make me cringe.
Dennis the Menace will not "resign" unless he is forced out. He would rather sue than quit. It would be nasty IMVHO.
If Dennis the Menace resigns I will personally make myself available to head up the McLaren team. I will do it for free. for the good of the sport. If another McCheater takes over the gesture of Dennis resigning is meaningless.
You guys are not reading between the lines enough ... as point 1 explains it really is a Ferrari AND FIA versus McLaren over the GPMA issue. Ferrari was the only team to side with the FIA and they are now trying to use the FIA to oust their only opposition. Yet again it proves beyond doubt that the FIA and Ferrari have a deal, Enzo would approve ... but unfortunately the deal really is about money not racing , that Enzo would not approve of! Pete
+1 I just hope the FIA make everything public and not leave the fans questioning whether the verdict was appropriate or not.
I think thats what "most" of us want. If Ferrari had Stepney do what he did in order to force Coughlan into copying the documents and tell other high ranking emplyees of McClaren what was in the packet, then email De la Rosa and force him to test the Ferrari set up on the McClaren car so as to save them 2 months of testing with the Bridgestone tires (because test time is limited) and then De la Rosa was forced to tell Alonso the set up so he could shave .6 seconds a lap off his times and tell everyone it was his doing. If this is so then Ferrari should be excluded from this season and the next. Fair is fair and cheaters should not be treated lightly. If justice is not administered properly this Thursday then many F1 fans will leave the sport for good as it will be very transparent that the sport is no better than the WWE. PS if it is found that Ferrari forced McClaren to modify any parts on their car wether it made the car perform better or not then Ferrari should be fined at least $20,000,000.00 on top of being excluded from th 2007 and 2008 season. Remember that this is just my opinion as a Ferrari fan.
LOL You are aware that this entire statement is based on a fake news report, don't you? http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/showthread.php?t=166395 What was that you were saying about wanting to know the truth...?
According to you this whole fiasco is based on fiction. We will see on Thursday how much is fiction wont we?
The FIA has now confirmed that McLaren's lawyers have indeed been in touch with them to discuss the Renault matter, but the sport's governing body has made it clear that it will have no relevance to the Paris hearing. An FIA spokesman told autosport.com: "We have noted the speculation and we can confirm that McLaren lawyers have recently brought to our attention certain matters regarding Renault F1. "But we can also confirm that the team (Renault) does not form any part of our investigations into McLaren's alleged breach of Article 151C of the International Sporting Code. "The FIA has reminded McLaren that the World Council hearing in Paris on Thursday will focus solely on the new evidence in that investigation. "To the extent required, any other matters will be dealt with as part of an entirely separate process. Renault F1 are aware of this and are happy to cooperate fully."
