It looks like a fighter jet; I believe this is the new one of which SuperVixen mentioned to me earlier. I really appreciate the way Lamborghini continues to design their exotics with sharp edges and angles -- it really maintains and captures all the stuff that defines and represents an exotic car -- at least, to me, it does. It's amazing -- I wish I can afford one. Check 6. /s/ Alfonso
Alfonso, when I was in SF last Wed after you recieved your gift vis SFPD , I saw a Gallardo with a BMC plate and thought of you wanting to get that Lambo
Well since no one else seems to know I thought I would enlighten you guys... Its not quite a concept car the Reventon will head from Frankfurt to a very limited clientele but its still not quite a real production car, either. At a neat one million euros before tax (over $1.3m), the Reventon will be not only the most expensive car at the Frankfurt motor show, but the rarest as well. Lamborghini will build only 20 Reventons and they have already been snapped up. The Reventon is named after a Mexican bull that killed a toreador in 1943. It is described by Lamborghini as an art-house Murcielago LP640 inspired by the F22 jet (a state-of-the-art fighter built by Lockheed Martin), and was designed, developed and built exclusively within Lamborghinis Centro Stile in Italy. Its only mechanical difference to the LP640 is a blue-printed version of the 6.5-liter all-alloy V12 to develop 650hp at 8000rpm. Instead of extra speed, the car has been used as a trial run for new technology and new design-to-production systems. While the forward-leaning, arrowed look of the carbonfiber body (just the roof and doors remain in aluminum) shares only its mirrors with the LP640, it is the interior that commands attention. Lamborghini has patents pending on its all-new Thin Film Treatment (TFT) liquid-crystal display, and if parts of the cabin might look familiar, the sum of its parts is entirely new. Reventon's styling has been inspired by the F-22 jet fighter. The digital dash gives drivers the choice of a round, analogue speedo and tach or a more radical jet fighter-inspired solution. In a radical departure from the automotive norm, the alternate display has no tach or speedo needles. Instead, it uses a pair of converging lines to make a digitized landing strip (not dissimilar in shape to the indicator lines on a Lexus's reversing camera) to mark out the tach and speedo numbers. Then theres a wing-style indicator in each path that moves up and down with revs and speed. Weve developed the dash on our own by brainstorming. We only went outside to get it done once wed figured it all out, Lamborghini director of brand and design, Manfred Fitzgerald said, proudly. Everyone is looking in the same dash direction as weve taken, but theyre looking in the old style. I dont want to take the path that has been walked already. The other key to the Reventon's development has been the leap straight from the designers pen to production. It is the first Lamborghini to go directly from sketches to CAD to production in a process that will be emulated on future programs. It has all been virtual and CAD and the first prototype is actually the first car. There was no 1:1; no clay. We did a quarter-scale model just to verify it in the wind tunnel, but thats all. It allowed us to reduce production times tremendously, said Fitzgerald. Well there you guys go, anyone in the 20 for this?
It looks okay, but one million Euros? If we have learned anything from P.T. Barnum, I would estimate it took only 20 minutes to locate buyers for the entire production run.
Thanks, racinbmw, for enlightening me on this Lamborghini. Well, that addresses my statement about it looking like a fighter jet -- they definitely achieved that goal! Hmm, I don't have that kind of money to spend on a car; and, I am not of any worthy social status; hence, I will answer your question in the negative, "I'm not in the 20." ;-) By the way, I like the story behind the Reventon's name: "The Reventon is named after a Mexican bull that killed a toreador in 1943." Let me think...if I had an extra 1.3 mil to blow, what would I like in my garage...the overdesigned absurd looking puke-grey/green Lambo Revention (the worst name for a car since, well, I don't know what), or..................... a red Enzo. HMMMMMMMMMMMM....i guess I need to make a decision.............well.................................... IT'S A NO BRAINER, FOLKS!!!! IT'S THE ENZO!
I think it is a great design, both inside and out, but there is no way those changes can justify an almost $1 million difference. I do understand that the panels are all carbon fiber and therefore should be lighter, but the jump in performance does not match the jump in price. P.S. Anybody up here getting one?!
Who's they? The dealer press release I have says 20. My factory contacts say 20. I am more then willing to stand corrected, but I believe only 20 will be made....

Hey, Ronnie360Spider. I read you loud and clear; but, I gotta say, unequivocally, for me, I'd pick the "overdesigned absurd looking puke-grey/green Lambo [Reventon]" over the Enzo. This bull just pulls me. Recently, I've had the opportunity to really learn about the Lambos, via driving them, as a result of being in the market for one at this time; and, I must say, they are incredible machinas. Prior to being in the market for a Lambo, I was an exclusive Ferrari-guy; but, now, I've become open in my tastes in other exotics. Anyway, the reality of it all is I can't afford either one of them: Enzo or Reventon; so, for me, purchasing one over the other is really moot. ;-) Check 6. /s/ Alfonso
I agree %100. Just like seeing a pic of an F-22 does not come close to the experience of being near one -and the power of seeing it fly.
The Murci grew and grew on me once I saw it in person. This car dosen't do it for me though on paper at least; I'd rather have an LP640. Where is an LP640 like car lightened and RWD only?!
I'm in the same boat not being able to afford. To me, it would be a toss up with an Enzo or Renventon if I could buy one. Although, this Lambo interior is real unique with color and technique. Maybe the pricing on this would be cheaper. LOL j/k Image Unavailable, Please Login
Looks to me like it's the technology/interior that makes this car unique and is it's main selling point...otherwise it's a glorified murci. I wonder if it's designed like the f22 to be invisible to radar speed with no worries
Maybe if you paint it camoflage, and have a military plate, and have the plate say DEFENSE or something like that . LOL
I prefer low-viz grey with a VF-213 Squadron insigna on the tail, and flight formation lights on the front and rear quarter panels --I would definitely be motivated to sell one of my houses in San Francisco to buy that set-up. ;-) Oh yeah, I also want a tailhook for carrier operations. I've had the rare (civilian) experience of climbing onto an F-22 cockpit a couple years ago! Best experience ever I gotta say. The jet is awesome. Now, if the Lambo has afterburner select, I'll take it! ;-) oh and ejection seats....
