    I have a friend who is contemplating selling his 1996 355. Black on tan. 30k miles. Last belt/full service done over three years ago so it's due. Car is in very good shape with the exception of stone chips on the front bumper and hood (which are always more visible on a black car). He knows the market is a little soft. Just wondering how soft it is for 355s and what's a solid number he could expect to sell it for? I told him that he would have to consider something less than $60k if he wanted to move it and he's not opposed to that. No pics yet but assume it's a nice/decent car. Has a Tubi exhaust.

    Jeffrey,

    I have a close friend that is currently negotiating on a Black/Black 95....If your guy is serious about selling PM me the info as my friend wants a car that needs a major and has a tan interior.....Seems like this is good timing....

    yeah, I agree vvassallo. High 60's-lo 70's seems like it's held constant for about a year or so.

    Really?????

    Not to be arguementative, but there is no mentioned of Valve Guides, no mention of manifolds and it needs a 30K belt service?

    As a comparison, FFCobra had a Black/Black 95 with 30k miles that sold for 65K to another FChatter about a year ago WITH verified replacement of valve guides and new OEM manifolds and a RECENT (1 to 3 month old) service. AND he sat on the car for like 3 months if not more.

    How do I know? Because I kick myself for missing that car, not that I dont like my little 308, but that was a beautiful car when I saw it (in pictures only) a year ago.

    I'd say a more realistic price without a service would be closer to 60k, lower 60's max.

    Sorry to disagree, and maybe its a good car, but a quick sale should result in a lower price. If your friend wanted to sit on it and advertise it for a while and wait for the right buyer, maybe uppper 60s.

    This isnt a 99 model and it doesnt appear to be all that special of a car (i.e. its not a GTS, its not a special color, its not a Fiorano model...)

    PS someone posted a few Manheim auction results for 355 recently, maybe a look at that would be more realistic.

    Jeff,

    Is the 355 a spider? What kind of maintenance records does he have? Have your friend post some info or PM me or put up an ad in Ferrariads.com. In order to hone in on a price you really need to have more info.

    The car has not had the valve guides done and needs a 30k service (I think I mentioned that in the first post). However, it's an excellent running car and has no apparent mechanical issues. It's a Berlinetta. He really doesn't want to part with it but I think some of the economic pressure we are experiencing is affecting him and reality is setting in. At this time I think he would entertain reasonable offers. If anyone is serious shoot me a PM with an offer and I will talk to him about it. He's a very good friend and I think I need to help him see the light so he doesn't further cripple himself financially. Since it does need a service I have informed him to expect a selling price no greater than LOW $60s and he understands and accepts this.
