So how do we know that it wasn't rebuilt like Roland's former car? Just because it burns or crashes doesn't meant that it can't be rebuilt. You just never know what's going on in a garage right around the corner from you. ;)

Roland Linder and his so-called F40 LM. The Mother's Polish car... Surely you know about him and his car.

Yes, yes indeed. OK..... Thanks for the link!

Yes indeed you are 100% correct anything can be rebuilt, or in this case re-created. And indeed I have been more than surprised at what I have discovered in garages local to me :)

However I should state that I have a little bit of an unfair advantage of knowlege of the circumstances of the image I posted, hence my suggestion that there is one less car. It is my understanding that the demise of this F40 was equally unfortunate for its driver and the remains were scrapped, not due to the blunt force of the accident (Ive seen far worse) but due to the fire which was TOTAL and consumed everything. It was determined that the chassis had lost its tensile strength and I have been made to understand that the remains were ceremoniously scrapped - trashed. That is simply why I said "we know therefore that there is one less USA car...."

That long rubber piece in the front looks like the rubber trim that's on the top nose portion for the US F40s.

    Excellent Mike!!!

We learn something new about USA F40s everday on this thread dont we? The laddered section of the front chassis is on the 211 USA F40s ONLY, and was mandated in order for the car to receive USA type-approval from the DOT as a result of the develpoment and crash-testing of the prototypes. In simple language, USA F40s have sturdy front ends!

BTW there is another clue in the image not yet mentioned.... and its the front passenger corner of the car thats been thrown into the passenger window and is hanging out. You can see the beginning of the black rubber spoiler/splitter from an underside view. Here is another image of that unfortunate F40.

Oscar-winning actor Nic Cage's F40 as it appeared momentarily in the movie "Gone in 60 Seconds" as did his entire car collection.

If I call correctly, this car had a huge off at Willow Springs Raceway in the hands of its Hollywood owner...

Still staying with the LM theme-of-the-day, its interesting to note (thanks Marcel) that the last two USA F40s as listed on the production registry are noted on it as "F40 LM".

They are chassis 97881 and 97893. Both cars were delivered directly to Ferrari of North America in full F40 LM guise for VIP clients. Attached are images of 97881 at Sebring.

According to my own research, the very first F40 development cars were also the very first pair of 288 GTO Evoluziones (70167 & 70205)...
