My initial research on MBAs are that its a two bladed thingy. One is u might end up being overqualified. The MBAs are best when your company sponser you for it.

How powerful is the CFA in being successful not only in a career ? Anyone? For a go-for vision, how will the CFA be beneficial in 3 years once completed (with the relevant experience) of course. Anyone can comment?

The success of one's career is very seldom related to the degree or qualification one has obtained. Hard work, performance, , initiative, team player, leadership, etc. are key ingredients in a successful career.

The CFA or the MBA is a door opener.

As Khips mentioned earlier, the MBA is a general degree. I always (still do) considered the MBA a conversion course for non business graduated. i.e. engineer studying a MBA to learn more about business. The CFA is more technical, catering towards a Finance career for both non and business graduates.

When my Bank looks at a candidates CV, a candidate with a CFA or MBA will have a better chance of getting the interview over someone with a normal undergraduate degree. Naturally, its up to the candidate at the interview. I have met many candidates with CFA/MBA who cannot get thru the 1st round of interviews for various reasons. All of whom are are very smart.

Thanks Lung! Not wanting to sound intrusive, but do you have a CFA and if so, how did it help you? And if not, what made you successful?

I do not have a CFA nor a MBA.

The difference between my time and now is that there is so much competition among the younger generation...all very smart, very talented and very hungry.Seriously? If I applied for a job at my company today...I don't think I could get in.

All these years I just kept my noise clean, worked hard, use alot of initiative, prayed hard and had lots of luck :)
