Very cool car, but I don't think I would want to be sitting that high in the windstream...
The car was nicknamed the "Flexible Flyer" by the guys that drove it. It now has a 330 2+2 motor in it with a Hewland gearbox? Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Thank you for the interesting "Flexible Flyer" photos. Good to see that this body was preserved. Here another Chinetti car in Le Mans 1982. Image Unavailable, Please Login
That's Jacky Icxk. He's sitting on his car. I'm behind the car in the brown sweater. We're in the pits before the race. Jackie suited up and won the race. Different times. Somehow I don't see Louis or Kimi driving themselves to the races today.
The Funny thing is that I was 18 and touring Europe after high school. I simply showed up in the pits a few days early, helped to carry a few things, was given a pass and everyone was very friendly. That photo is from a book I recently bought as it had photo's of the factory in 67. It also had a chapter on the French GP in 68. I had a vague memory of photographers snapping away but until I saw the book I didn't realize that photo existed. Motor Racing "Reflections of a lost era" Anthony Carter Well worth reading! It also has a photo of 0858 and 0854's tails drying in the sun. 0858's tail eventually wound up on 0846 after being on 0854 for a few years. Image Unavailable, Please Login
What wonderful times you were able to witness! Is that perhaps a camera bag slung over your shoulder? Were you able to snap some photos while roaming through the pit area? If so, please share! Gary
It is. The photo's are buired in my parents basement but someday I'll look for them. The book has a lot of great ones. I remember the Honda GP Car and the new Ferrari covered transporter.
Hello, Since i'm new here i will introduce myself (briefly): My name is Stephan and i collect internetpictures of the Ferrari 512S & 512M. I try to allocate the pictures to the correct serial number. Most of the times i succeed in doing so, but i also have quit some left in which case i don't know which chassisnumber it is. One of these pictures is attached. I hope that someone can help me out. Unfortunately the copyrightholder is not known by me. Thanks and enjoy the picture! Image Unavailable, Please Login
Aren't there two of those Fillipinetti cars with the same serial number? I believe they have a 917 Porsche windscreen.
Seeing that reminded me of Long Beach in '78. Just before the final qualifying session, my friend and I easily hopped the fence that separated the grandstands from the pits. After that, we just walked around and nobody bothered us. In fact, a mechanic from one of the smaller teams asked us if we would watch his tools while he went to take a leak. I guess we looked honest! Those days are gone forever... Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
The car in 2738 is 1032 - the 512M; Filipinetti also had 1048 which Mike Parkes converted with a Porsche 917 windscreen and it was commonly referred to as the 512F. Nathan

Hi Cyril - I forgot that 1032 used the chassis of 1050. So, of course, it is now 1050. Just having a senior moment! Nathan
I used to be heavily involved in Vintage Racing here in the States 20 years ago. Bob Donner owned a 512M as did a fellow named Toby Bean. They both were painted in Fillipinetti trim with the 917 windscreen? I lost track or where either car went? Can anyone shed some light on this? David
I took this photo at Laguna-Seca in 1988. 512F n°7 on the trailer is #1048. Owner was Bob DONNER. The second photo is from a magazine and car n°8 should be #1022. Image Unavailable, Please Login
