I had the chance to detail a couple vehicles this weekend (forum member Kenco's Ferrari Testarossa and Lambo Diablo) with forum sponser's Deep Finish product line. I will post pictures tomarrow for those who are interested in seeing what the hype is about.

I have used just about every product under the sun (Zymol, Zaino, Klasse, Pinnacle, P21s, Meguiars, ect..) and have settled on sealants (vs. waxes) because of the Florida climate. Not only are great loooks essential, but we (Floridians) but have great protection and durabilty. I haven't had the chance to assess the latter at the moment, so I will focus the review on ease of use/inital appearance. Honestly, most of the products I try fail to impress me (compared to my current selection). I found Deep Finshes' product unique (more on that latter) in appearance and was impressed by the ease of use.

    First up Deep Detail SWAX

    Manufacturer's claims

    "Deep Swax (8oz.)
    Item #: DPS033R
    $16.95/ea
Deep Swax was designed to provide ultimate protection and extraordinary depth and shine from painted surfaces—all with one, remarkable easy-to-use product. Deep Swax stands up to extreme climates while maintaining a fantastic finish. It has uncommon durability, and sheets water off for months.
Because of its clarity, Deep Swax can be used to protect glass and bare metal surfaces that receive exposure to adverse elemental conditions, such as salt water or off road environments. Hot climates have little affect on durability or shine, and Deep Swax can actually be applied in direct sunlight—with no performance or removal issues.

Super-strong element and UV protection. Outstanding durability. Incredible shine. One product."

I had a chance to apply three coats of each to the Lambo and Ferrari.

Pros: Ease of use, period. Because of the carrier this product uses to deliver its resin base to the paint, it tends to bind/bond to the surface very quickly. If applied very thin, this product is easy to remove, with little dusting, no trim staining, or "wax in the cracks". No residue left behind, and wipes away very cleanly. The appearance of the product.

Cons: There is a long wait time between coats. Because the resins' must bind, SWAX does require about 45 minutes after application to wipe away. Also, because the coat does need time to "cure" an hour is required after wiping away before applying a second coat.

Overall: The appearance was amazing. Most sealants tend to be very glossy, while most traditional carnuaba based waxes tend to deepen paint and increase its depth. I found SWAX to offer more of a carnuaba look, with deep reflections, and a very wet look. It really had a wet shimmer to the paint. However, I also found the reflections to be very sharp and clear, which is more in line with a sealant. This combination of effects was very attractive and unique to the product. Overall, I am beyond impressed with the SWAX, and will update its durabilty results as I find them. The best way to describe the look, is like the paint had been incased in a several inch thick layer of highly polished glass. It was similar to looking through the paint to see the high gloss reflection.

    Deep Detail

    Manfacturer's Claims

    Deep Detail (16oz.)
    Item #: DPD044R
    $14.95/ea
Deep Detail provides a quick "wet look" shine, with the surface actually dry and not greasy—there's no doubt as to why it's become an instant hit. The shine depth that Deep Detail creates is simply amazing, and has uncommon durability for a quick detail spray. After use, the surface is highly resistant to dust, and feels as smooth as silk—there's no streaking or residue.
Deep detail is so easy to use, you can apply it to a full-sized SUV in literally 20 minutes, including the windows. The result will look like it took all day. Great for maintaining shine between washes, or for a quick, waterless clean and wax. Deep Detail can be used on multiple surfaces including paint, chrome, glass, and fiberglass. Use after applying Deep Swax for a show-stopping finish.

Body shop-safe and great to use for a "new paint" wax.

Pros: Easy of use. A little bit goes a long way, and with a gently wiping into the paint, the finish becomes very slick. There is also a noticable improvement of the slickness (surface tension) of the paint.

    Cons: None to think of

Overall: This spray has nice lubricity and should safely remove dusting from the paint gentley. The ease of use was nice, as there was no streaking to speak off and the increase in gloss (minor) and slickness (major) where very nice bonuses.

    Deep ALUME

    Manufacturer's claims

    Deep Alume (8oz.)
    Item #: DPA022R
    $16.95/ea
Deep Alume was designed as a unique finishing polish for polished aluminum. This slick-feeling, effortless product produces brilliantly uncommon shine, clarity, and durability from a hand polish. Repeat applications create even more shine, and a side-by-side comparison with a chrome surface is remarkable. Unlike most metal polishes, Alume is designed to completely dry before easily wiping off, exposing the finish shine without the offensive odors that are common with most metal polishes.
A long-lasting, show-winning shine with minimal effort. Works incredibly on brass and copper as well.

Not for use on anodized finishes.

Pro's: Nice sent, very nice cleaning power. Leaves bare aluminum very glossy, with clear reflections.

Con's: Very thin means that if you are not careful, the product will run out of the bottle and soak whatever your applicator.

Overall: Great product that requires very little "elbow grease" to clean and polish aluminum to a very high luster. Does have a sligh learning curve vs. traditional paste type polishes or those with a grittier, thicker viscosity.

    Thanks

    Deep CHROME

    Manufacturer's claims

    Deep Chrome (8oz.)
    Item #: DPC011R
    $12.95/ea
Deep Chrome was designed to completely clean chrome surfaces without ever scratching. This product can be aggressively worked into a chrome surface, producing an amazing, almost-blue chrome finish. Easily removes water spots, most chemical stains, small boot marks, and the haze created by wax based chrome polishes and their "protective" coatings. Simply apply a small amount to the surface to be polished with a soft cloth, let dry, then easily buff off for an unparalleled shine depth. If only everything produced such incredible results with so little effort.
Deep Chrome is also perfect for use on brightly polished stainless steel.

Pros: Very nice, deep shine with little elbow grease. Easily removed exhaust staining from chrome tips with little more then two wipes.

    Cons: None to thick of

Overall: Products a cold looking shine (ideal for chrome) that is deep and almost blue in appearance. Wipes on easily and has very strong cleaning power with out the use of heavy mechanical (grit) abrasives.

I used the product on one of the Fcars yesterday and today (2 coats).

I can only say WOW! I totally agree with your assessment!!! :D

Next, I'll try it on my white Roller and champagne Mercedes.

Needless to say, so far I'm totally impressed with the DeepSwax. :)

I don't have any of the other products other than the DeepDetail, which I haven't tried yet.

Okay here are some pictures of Deep SWAX and Deep Chrome on the Diablo. White is a tough color to show improvement on, but I think the wetness and depth of gloss shows through pretty strongly.

The first picture is the only before I could find, and in all honesty, not the best representation for several reasons. One, the owner keeps these cars VERY clean, so it didn't need to be washed, but rather lightly dusted. I used a quick detailer which probably boosted the gloss level slightly to clean it up. Second, the fact that the canopy is there effects lighting conditions, and its probably not the best angle anyways. The truth is, I didn't expect to be so blown away by these products that I would write a review on them, so I didn't focus much on the befores (other than close ups to document the machine polishing).

Also, I did polish the paint with a machine to remove any moderate imperfections in the paint (swirls and very light scratches) which does increase the gloss. Eitherways, I think the pictures are a pretty accurate representation of what this product looks like on properly preppared paint. I do have to take some of the credit for the appearance though :D

I will post pictures of the Ferrari tonight as time allows as well, so you can see it on Rosso Corsa a

It looks good but is difficult to tell on a white car. I would like to see results on a colored car , say a black or drak blue or a red. I usually find that White , Silver and Biege cars do not project themselves when cleaned vs. a car of bright or dark colors. So far the part I like is that the product doesn't turn white in the cracks of the body. This is a plus on a dark car.

Agreed. I think the fact that the white looks so reflective and wet is a plus though. This product definetely added a dimension of gloss/depth that is uncanny on the white car. I am going to post pictures of the TR in a second.

    Todd, thanks for the review!

I hope you don't mind but I grabbed one of your shots and cropped it. When you take away the flat light distraction areas and get a focus on the natural low light reflections, you can get an idea of the true dynamic of the material finish. And this is on white!! Very nice job and again, thank you for the review.

Thanks Jack, I clayed with Zaino Z18 clay and polished both cars with Menzerna SIP on a rotary buffer to remove the swirl marks and increase the gloss. I would say each car had close to 4-5 hours into them. Ken (owner and forum member Kenco) feed me which slowed by process slightly :D

Any idea what would happen over swirl marks instead of buffing them out? I am thinking about the use for a daily driver. Do any of the products help to "hide" swirl marks/light scratches? I am using Zaino right now. For the daily driver I like the fact they have products for the non pro to use to mask the paint defects. I'd love to hear your impressions of how well it holds up in the Florida liquid sunshine. (Which is coming down in buckets right now) Thanks for the write up. BTW, have you used Ultima by Autopia yet?

Hey Joe, I am Zaino's only offical detailer in central Florida (despite what some other detailers have been claiming apparently). I have never found Zaino to really mask imperfections (I am assuming you are referring to Z5pro), and from what I could tell, the Deep SWAX didn't have much "filling" ability either. Honestly though, I usually don't notice these types of things because I polish the paint before hand to remove defects. I will be extensively testing DeepFinish's durability vs. Zaino (the industry leader when it comes to long lasting protection) and keep you updated in the future.

Because I am spoiled by using Zaino, most products I test simply go in the trash because it is very rare that find something that impresses me. DeepFinish was very impressive to say the least.

Yup, I was thinking of the Z5. Doesn't hide them all, but it does help cover some things up. Thanks again and let us know how well it holds up.

hi todd, i was very interested in your thread ; i recently purchased a red ' 95 355 spider with 1400 miles on it. It has no swirls and has been garaged continuously ,probably never even seen a rain drop ! My first thought was Gliptone or Zaino but my brother introduced me to Klasse so I tried it. It gives a great finish but I am now tempted to start again with Deep Finish - any thoughts? I am really looking for a '' glass' type finish

please let me know your thoughts as you seem to be the site's pro on polishes !

Finally got around to using the deep finish wax product on my black 308. I am very impressed with this product – I have never used anything like it. It produced the deepest and streak free shine I have ever seen on a car. Got a lot of compliments at the car show this weekend – I definitely had the best looking black car there. Another good thing about this product is that it can be used on almost anything. Glass, other painted surfaces, plastic, bumpers, mirrors etc. Everything I used it on just POPPED!!!
