+1, That was my position last year, Massa at Ferrari and Kimi at McLaren. Finally, Ferrari made the right decision and got Kimi , but instead kept Massa instead of Schumi
Stars must be aligned or something I'll go pick up a lotto ticket tonight - right after I put that deposit down on the Mercedes SLR, errr, I mean Ferrari 599!
newslines this afternoon in Italy have revieled that Alonso has paid mechanics to make hamilton slow down at pit stops. It makes me think ??? Did he pay off some Ferrari mechanics to beat shumy?????? Alonso may be banned from F1 ,so I doubt Ferrari will take him. If taking someone why not Hamilton?
I don't think Fernando will ever drive for Ferrari, but you must admit he would be a quick study since he knows so much about the car already. He would be way ahead of anyone else they could bring in with all of his technical knowledge of the F2007.
+1 My opinion totally. Imagine seeing Fernando getting out of his Ferrari and doing his "bull horns" next year. Schumi could even by his buddy in Maranello... Image Unavailable, Please Login
Misquoted. He paid his mechanics bonus money to make his OWN car faster. I for one think Alonso is exactly what Ferrari need to dominate, ie. a driver that can develop and setup a car. Massa can't and Kimi is not interested in doing so. Pete
There are plenty of other drivers who can set up and develop a car without all of the baggage that Alonso brings.
+1 I completely agree. FA may be a good driver and may be able to set up a car (as long as he's given the competitor's car set-up info) but at such a severe cost to whatever team he's on...frankly, I don't think he's worth it.
More on the subject of reliability. I really do think Ferrari need to address first, because with Fernando behind the wheel it is just bound for stuff to wrong more often, as he is a very aggressive driver. If Kimi had not retired in Germany and in Spain he could have 12 extra points, one point away from Lewis Hamilton in the WDC. Not counting the stall in Britain and the pass Lewis did on him in Malaysia, Massa could have 17 extra points right now. Which means he would have 94 points, 3 away from Lewis Hamilton. I think if Ferrari give Kimi a reliable car he will bring the WDC home. Massa is definitely not better than Kimi, but he is one of the better F1 drivers, and he's still improving his skills. I think the drivers are fine, just need work on the car. If Alonso were to ever come to the Scuderia, he certainly wouldn't do with Kimi there. He might do it with Massa, because he knows he can beat him.
IMHO, I think FA's oversized ego would prevent that from happening. Either Kubica or Heidfeld would probably make it too challenging for him to be considered #1 in the team. He would probably start ranting and raving again and demanding that he be considered #1. It would all go downhill from there.
The day this poor excuse for a sportsman Alonshole comes in the Scuderia Ferrari, would be the day when with great pain in my heart I'll be cheering for another team.
+1. I'd like to see him at Ferrari because if he did end up signing with the team, at least he would know where he stands in relation to Kimi from the very beginning, and as long as they were both treated equally he'd be fine. I still think that his resentment towards part of the McLaren team is because he was a team player and helped Lewis a lot until Hungary where Lewis disobeyed the team orders and was not punished for it by Ron to Fernando's detriment, and Fernando lashed out. As for his skill in the car he is still the best one out there and even if he makes errors based on his emotions, I'd still rather have an emotional driver who cares about what is going on around him than an unemotional robot who acts as if he couldn't care less, even if he shoots off his mouth and lets people know what he really thinks. He doesn't let his emotions get the best of him in the car and hence he is the most reliable and consistent driver on the track. I don't like that he kept quiet when he knew about the Coughlan/Stepney connection from the emails with Pedro, and I don't like the fact that he tried to use the information against Ron, even if Ron was at fault for not disciplining Lewis, but for all of you who call him a cheater for using Ferrari's technical information, Fernando would be perfect for Ferrari since at least he knows how to use the Ferrari technical information to develop the car, possibly better than anyone else in the team. I think he would be better paired with Kimi at Ferrari but would probably learn from his experience at McLaren and learn how to avoid isolating himself from the team around him. In fact, I think he would do well there just because Kimi is so eager to leave the track when his work is done that Fernando might take advantage of the situation and develop a relationship with the crew. Felipe's 1 year contract with Ferrari might be coming up for renewal and I wouldn't bet any money on Ferrari renewing that contract.
Nice post. No one talks about how he broke his leg in 1999 and upon his return tried to help Irvine win the WDC-think Asslonso would do the same??
Although FA would most likely take credit for this, the bogus 19K rev limit saved the MB from blowing itself up on a semi-regular basis.
Its amazing that they still call this the pinicle of motor sport. Maybe next year they can run runflat tires too and cry babies like alonshole will be mandated a bib attatched to the hans device.
+1 I've heard MS severely criticized for his mistakes and I know alot of Italians who never took MS into their hearts. When the full FIA report comes out I think that FA/RD/McLaren-MB-make that "Vodafone McLaren-MB"-are going to come off even worse then they already are-quite a few people voted to exclude FA and LH from the WDC.
It has become a farce; had to laugh when Hobbs says the WCC isn't important-its all about technology David; drivers are secondary. Very little passing and as a show it stinks-shut it off after Saturday's qualifying and you wouldn't have missed a thing other than FA pushing LH a little in the first few corners. Another boring year in F1 except for LH's arrival but any championships won by anyone-including Ferrari's WCC-are tainted IMVHO. I hope more teams can get in the battle in '08, especially after they've had some real experience with the BS tires (as opposed to stealing technology). Does anyone really think any of the top 4 drivers would have won in anything but a Ferrari or McLaren?
