    Jim,

Thanks again for posting. The owner of that USA F40 LM would love that image of his car when new.

Did you have factory techs over here in the States during the homologation process?

USA F40s are between 15 and 17 years old. Enough time for the weight of the perforated vinyl material to free itself from the very thin layer of foam to which it is attached to the carbon-fibre panel (which by the way is a fine contoured peice of work to behold once removed). Once you remove the panel, its fairly easy to have a competent upholsterer re-glue the entire vinyl sheet so that it is better-than-new. This is what Ive done.
By the way, I think the reason that it seperates from the roof panel is that the glue they used causes the thin foam strip to disintergrate and it is my beleif that youd be better off doing the job properly and re-gluing the entire surface rather than dealing with isolated areas of seperation. Otherwise youll be chasing another area in the immediate future....
Its worth noting that this condition is a random thing regardless of mileage. I recently inspected a "cocooned" USA F40 that has been perfectly stored with just 150 miles on it and the headliner is sagging in places. A lot of people just never look up there and sometimes you can just about feel it with your hand, but if youre tall like me (6' 3") then that last 1" is important and its annoying having headliner brushing down on your head whilst youre driving.

One owner from new, the first car to be delivered to a California customer, still in a collection of 100 assorted cars, just 2,000 miles from new, original paint, original interior, original exhaust, no track, books, tools. Only for sale as the owner is now 82 years old and the car is too fast at this point. $595,000. [email protected]

Found this hanging on the wall in our prep department this AM. Cutaway F40, that Minolta used for promotional purposes, several years ago.

This file should be high enough res to be a desktop, should you so choose.

On a California weekend that brought nothing but rain I went into the garage to give "85596" a proper cleaning. All the roadwork from the Monterey Historics & F40 20th Anniversary weekend meant that the chassis yeiled grass, leaves, sand and small stones, dust, grease, dirt - they all work their way into the F40's chassis (!) and just maintaining this car will keep you interested. LOL. Anyway, its all clean again. Im not taking it to any shows, but I do like to keep it sweet. OCD me? Absolutely...

Ive just been told that this F40 is for sale but to get it you must also buy a 288GTO, an F50, and an Enzo. Four play :)

Holy crap that's clean Joe - what do you charge for a complete detail :)

I doubt I could ever be that OC. But she's looking better than new - literally.

If we assemble 44 Ferrari F40s in our next planned Reunion, will you then concede that the USA cars are as good (not better, but just equal...)?

    Dear Comrade Joe Sackey,

All F-40's are equal except that some are more equal than others - namely the English F-40 Lightweight; the nomenclature for which was created by your good self Joe!

Joe, I cannot imagine a congregation of forty four American F-40's happening. We in England of course have the world record with a total of forty three. We could have managed many more but did not wish to intimidate those in our American colony. Therefore we fielded only forty three in the hope that this would remove the inertia from our American colonists and spur them into action thus to round up sufficient to top our record!

    With kind regards,

    512 Tea Are
