Lots to choose from in Florida now !! A friend in Tampa told me a few weeks ago that it was absolutely a buyers market. I'll have to stop by and visit you Johnny !!
Our AC broke a few weeks ago on the Labor Day holiday. We had a tech out here who flipped a breaker and it worked again for a whole hour. The system was 15 years old and on its last legs. That night I had to sleep with four fans on me in the living room because it was so freaking hot. The next day the ac tech came out and I bought an 18 seer $7800 Infinity Puron system with the UV filter and the electrostatic filtration system. They installed it the next day, but those two nights were the worst ever...it had to be 90+ degrees in here. Sleeping was awful, so was getting up in the morning and taking a shower and getting dressed. Ugh! I'll pay whatever it costs to keep my house cool. But, to answer the question, I keep it around 72. Hot or cold, I hate humidity. Humidity makes heat hotter and cold more chilling. I'm pretty skinny -- or else I'm a lizard. But I like hot and dry. After working in the 70F equipment lab, I have to take a break to stand in the sun and warm up. To me, "comfortable" is 80F and about 55% relative humidity.
You now have a little of the flavor of growing up in the late fifties when there was no A/C in the house. In summer, you just lay there at night and sweat. NEVER AGAIN!
