    I was quoted $1700 for a new one w/o labor. For the 1/2 dozen times a year I may use A/C any suggestions on rebuilt or used?

    It's a generic A/C compressor, so buy it from a generic discount shop such as here (yours is listed): http://www.a-aironline.com/SearchResult.aspx?CategoryID=21


    But it won't come in the yellow Ferrari box or have a parts warranty from Ferrari. In some cases you might have to unbolt your A/C pulley and swap it from the original to the generic compressor.

    I paid 4500 SEK which is less than 700 USD for a brand new one here in Sweden.

    Took me some hours to get it in place but it sure was worth it.
