    ****************ATTENTION FERRARI OWNERS**************

Jack Fanning is hosting a Ferrari gathering on Saturday, October 6, 2007 at his place in Ft. Wayne, Indiana. This will be an opportunity for fellow Ferrari owners to share their cars and stories. Jack has some great Ferraris, and I plan to have my GTE there. This is a gathering that Jack would like to make an annual event--so please try to attend. Details (i.e. meeting time, directions, planned activities, etc.) to follow.....

Any other Ferrari owners interested in attending this event in Ft. Wayne? Let me know your thoughts.

All you Michigan Ferrari owners should come down as Jack's place is on the North side of Ft. Wayne and is a nice drive from SW and SE Michigan!!! Lets see if we can fill his parking lot with Ferraris!!!!!!!!
If you have not seen Todd's GTE, then you are in for a real treat. :)

Count me in. I'm looking forward to it! I'll bring my camera to capture some images of Todd's GTE - oh...and I'll bring a drool bucket too.

Hey JIMSHADOW...how many miles do we have to drive to qualify for that couch and beer? (I'm up here in Michigan)

About the host of this gathering: I met him at the Auburn Auto Auction, he had brought a wicked looking black Boxer and a gorgeous grigio 360 Modena. I'm thinking about getting a 360 some day, and he was kind enough to let me study his car in great detail. Jack is very down-to-earth and easy to talk to, and we had a great time chatting about Ferraris. A first class guy all the way around. Thank You Jack for allowing us to meet at your facility.

    See all of you there!!

Weather and work permitting, I might be able to come. A LOONNNNGGGG time ago, I lived on Oliver Street and later on Indiana Avenue. Warsaw Elementary, Harrison Hill Junior High and South Side High (1962) figured in my past, as did the FW Region SCCA and the Northeast Indiana Sports Car Club. Now I am in Ann Arbor.

I'm sure I speak for all when I say I'm sorry you can't make it. I think the main focus is still on Italian machinery with other cars of interest being welcomed. I know it will be a fun time. I'm looking forward to "shooting the bull" and maybe doing some techinical discussions....your input would certainly be welcome. I'm a do-it-yourselfer and always willing to learn from others and their experiences. I've done 3 engine-out majors so far on Testarossas, as well as some other things, and enjoy hearing other's stories. I've learned over the years, when your around experienced people, to keep your ears open and your mouth shut. Personally I'm really looking forward to this gathering.

I think this one sounds more like a Ferrari gathering while a couple people like me show up and park a couple miles away and take pictures from a distance :p You should go to this one.

Silvergts1998: No...I haven't done a 512TR yet. But they are similar so I think I could handle it. The major difference is the TR drivetrain drops out the bottom, where as the 512TR engine/trans comes out the top.

The TR engine/trans can also come out the top...which may ultimately be easier for a regular guy like me in my little shop. So next time I may just try that method. The advantage is you can still roll the car around if you need to move it. I don't have a hoist or power tools, and I currently undo everything and jack the rear of the TR up off the engine/trans/drivetrain and roll the whole works out the back. Things can get tense sometimes.

I think I may pull my 512 TR engine out this winter to check on belts and clean stuff up to my standards. It doesn't appear to be that bad of a job to do compared to my Diablo, which I actually thought it wasn't to begin with. But tips and tricks always are welcomed! I do have a garage with car lifts, air tools, gantry crane, fabrication tools, ..yada..yada..but my garage is getting small with all the tools I collect. Where you located at?

Todd is it ok if one of the enemies comes? I know somebody with a Diablo 6.0 who is going to be in Ft. Wayne that weekend and he might be able to go over.

Silvergts1998: I am located in Coldwater, Michigan. A small town (Population 13,000) about 13 miles north of the Mich./Ind. state line. I'm just a regular blue collar guy who dreamed of owning an exotic car - and it had to have 12 cylinders. So I'm starting on the lower end of the scale, and learning to work on the cars myself. I'm very meticulous about details, and document everything I do. My last TR left me much better than when I first bought it. It runs as good if not better than my current TR that is 2 years newer. The Diablo is one of my dream cars. I have only sat in one, and shut the door before the dealership made me step out of the car. I was very impressed with the "solidness" of it. The Diablo is very well put together, with big horsepower....what's not to love? If an early Diablo with the wing on the back came along in my price range...I'd jump in a second. But even the very early cars are out of my reach....and I would definately want a 2 wheel drive or "SV" model. But since I'm just a factory worker that ain't gonna happen. I love foreign cars. My lovely girlfriend Karen and I have 4 "non-domestic" cars. She drives a new Beetle, and I have an Audi A8L, and older Superbeetle, and the Ferrari TR. My parts getter is an old Ford truck - very dependable after 300k miles!!! I work on all of them, including cam belts, etc. I watched with great interest when you pulled your Lambo's motor - just incredible - great car. We may have to get together sometime.

You never know Carguy about getting a Diablo someday. I am a college drop out and just happen to get into sales because I had no other option or money. No real formal education so sales was my only alternative. I got into Telecom and internet sales. I did some things right and took advantage of situations. 8 years ago I would have never dreamed of owning two of my most favorite all time cars all in one garage since I was a teen. I am 36 years old now and still can't believe I have a Lamborghini Diablo and Ferrari 512TR together! I am still amazed that I have taken a Lambo apart and not crying about it. I am a DIYer also as all my local friends would attest to! I want to pull my engine out of the 512 TR this winter and not afraid to do it myself but any guidance is always appreciated! Heck I would pay for your plane ticket round trip if you came and visited for a weekend and help pull the Ferrari Engine! That would be a blast! LOL!
