My wife is trying to convince me that this is the ultimate bed and she is not sleeping well anymore with our "previously top-of-the-line" Sealy.

Is this really worth it at $4200 for a king size bed?

How much did you pay and where did you get it from....I have no problems with my current bed. Please help, I'd rather buy a nice watch than a stupid bed.

We (I) purchased one about 2 years ago from the advertisements you see on television--approx. $2100 for a Queen-sized. I know you can now buy them in Select Comfort stores in some malls. I really like it, and it has helped with my lower back pain. It's also very easy to assemble--I put it together myself with no assistance. So, can I recommend it? Yes. However, let me say for the record, a watch (or two--one for your wife as well!) would also be very nice! Angie Hudkins, The Boss

Find yourself a Radisson Hotel someplace close to home. Check online, most of them have sleep number beds. Go spend a weekend on it and see what you think. Better to be out $200 than $4000.

I spend my first night in one last night at a hotel in Chicago. I put it on 30 and it was probably too soft. Just for fun, I pumped it up to 100. I was afraid it was going to pop. I'm not ready to buy one for that kind of $$ after one night, but it was a nice novelty. I'd suggest you spend half that amount on a quality reqular mattress, then buy a cheaper watch! :)

I've had one for 6-7 years. They are great.. My number is 45, Bridgett's is 20 (sinking in the bed).. We love it but change can be good, sometimes we like going back to regular matress beds at hotels.

Its worth the money, as you can see on ebay, you can sell it if you decide you dont like it. Even back when we got ours they have like a 5 or 10 year warranty( I dont remember) and 90 day money back..

    Go ahead get it!

I have a Select Comfort 7000 King and my wife and I both love it. FYI, the Radison uses a lower line 5000 model which is not as nice as the 7000 model... we replaced a $5000 Duxianna bed with the SC 7000 and it is a much better bed IMHO...never go cheap on a mattress where you spend ~ 1/3 of your life... http://www.selectcomfort.com/air_mattress_beds/sleep_number_7000.cfm

Not good for cuddling and sex. My ex-girlfriend and I spend the weekend on a select comfort and there is a very annoying bar that goes down the middle of the bed and this obviously, provides the separation between the different "numbers" but we found that it really felt like we were sleeping on two beds instead of one and if we wanted to cuddle or have sex it was just plain annoying.

We were told at a select comfort store that it can be shaved...and I suppose this would work but seems a bit too much effort to have to customize an already expensive bed.

Aside from that, we both absolutely fell in love with it. Both slept like champs and it is perfect for a couple that have differing demands for hardness. Sadly, the very thing that makes this bed so amazing also comes with that one little annoyance. My 2 cents.

we haven't noticed that separation in the middle...but, she uses #50 and I use #45 which are both very firm anyway.

To solve the problem just move the divider(inside the mattress) to one side or the other, I have it on my side. Then the center is sex-cuddle friendly.. Just for fun pump it to 100 and then go at it!!

Ya, but I always feel like I'm getting a good screw job when buying a mattress. It's such a game that the manufacturers play with their model names for the same mattresses they distribute.

We have one, Queen pillowtop, I forget the exact model anymore but has the wireless remote.

It sounds good on paper, and the ads look good, but in reality I get better rest on a quality spring type mattress and my wife has soured on the Select Comfort concept as well.

You find many for sale in the papers and craigslist, that should tell you something.

The divider can be a real problem if the "Sleep Number" from side-to-side differs by more than 10 or so.

Maintaining the proper "position" can be a challenge when you sink into the bed as much as you do with these, and adding a second person to one side dramatically changes things in terms of movement dynamics - and not in a good way.

If ours needed replacing and SC dropped the price by 50%, I still would not get another one.

The most comfortable mattress I ever layed on was one of those foam ones you can jump on and the glass of wine does not tip over (Can't remember the name of it). hey are expensive, but sure feel good! I have heard complaints that they get 'sweaty' because of the rubber material. If I was going to pop some hefty coin on a new mattress, I may think hard about one of these, sure was comfy!

ok, i just dropped serious coin on a 7000 model. i'll post pics later =) LOL!
I got a really good deal because I negotiated as if it was a Certified Pre-Owned Acura.

The bad thing is, my wife is now looking for the highest tread count sheets. There goes another $1000 for shams, sheets, comforters.

THEEEEEEN, she also wants the Bose wave alarm clock on her side of the bed.

Don't skip on high-end bedding. I choked when melodie bought Egyptian cotton sheets, 1200 thread count. Its longer fibers allow for a tighter weave, and a smoother and more lustrous touch. Pretty comfy on top of a good mattress. Well worth the expense. It's one of those "Just buy it and don't show me the bill" things.
