I'm having a debate with a friend. He seems to think the 575 can beat a 360 Modena (non-CS) around a track. I think the 360 would win. Does anybody know the track times around Fiarono track?

I know top gear tested the 575 and the 360CS on their track. But the 575 run was in the rain.

I have no solid info but based on my little knowledge of the two on tracks, I'd guess it could come down to which track. I'd think a tighter track would result with the 360 as victor, while a longer track with sweeping curves and big straights would allow the v12 to pull on the 360 enough.

Maybe the 575 GTC, since, I believe, it has stiffer suspension among other things. I wouldn't mind seeing a video!

Edit: In fact, there should be a thread with a lot of modern Fcars track times around Fiorano. That'd give a good idea, I'll look for it.

Looks like the 360 is marginally faster on this run. They're close enough that I'd think driver, weather and track could alter the outcome very easily. Personally, I'd take the 575 if it was to be just one. Or 550 + 355 Spider!

A few thoughts after browsing the list for a moment:

    1. Reinforcing different times for different drivers: 360 manages to tie Gerhard Berger's F40 time

    2. I'm curious what year the quicker F40 time is? The original is 1987, obviously. I'm curious if newer tires were all that contributed to the -.40s

    3. The 355 Challenge times: 1995 street tires with no wing versus 1997 slicks, wing, and I'm guessing Larini is exhaust allowed -1.10s,
but when is the best time recorded? I'm guessing that one is for full trim Challenge.

I also assume these are all pretty good times, as I am sure Ferrari probably lap Fiorano countless times with each model, and apparently continue to do so at a competitive rate, at least with themselves. Just makes me want to work there that much more.... I read in R&T not too long ago that there was a new chief test driver! Twenty-six-years-old. What a job!

as i'd imagine, the 575 would blister along the straights, but the 360 would have higher cornering speeds. either way... meh.

That sounds more reasonable, even with Fiorano not being a high speed track, I can't imagine a FXX being beaten by a 360GT...

They might have been different times, where I can see the FXX may have given someone some trouble! That thing is just crazy fast. Onboard with Manuma @ fiorano right after watching onboard an Enzo around monaco gives you a new perspective into what is really fast.

In 2000 Road & Track tested several combinations from various manufacturers, corvette and camero, 911 turbo, etc., and one of the pairs was the 575 and the 360. The track was thunderhill, a fast track in Northern California. The 360 was the fastest car there, slightly faster than the Porsche Turbo, but a lot quicker than the 575.

Conrirms my experience that the 360 will win in the twisties, but the bhp and torque advantage of the 575 will prevail in the straight.

    WOW.

I never really was a big 360 CS fan but that's crazy. I'm won over.

The 430 is a second quicker, and it has sound proofing.

    It depends on the track.

Around a track like Fiorano the 360 is quicker.

Put them on a track like Mugello, Monza, Silverstone, etc.

Then the 575 will come out on top.

ferrari's official time of FXX on fiorano is 78 seconds. maybe it was estimated as many drivers had a lot less, down to 72 seconds

i also was said by one person working for ferrari that 430 scuderia is 2 seconds faster on a lap than enzo
