How is your P4 knowledge?

Back in 1967 330 P3/4 #0846 had 'PROVA MO-53' and 330 P4 #0856 had 'PROVA MO-36'. Which plate was on #0858? Was it 'PROVA MO-55' or 'PROVA MO-33'?
What was the triangular blue logo underneath the SF badge, as seen during Monza '67? Was it an old CARELLO logo?

 

The PROVA MO- XX(X) stencils were swapped around between races and (factory) cars during the '67 season.

Thank you people. I already made a decal in Adobe Indesign CS2 but I missed the black figure in the yellow circle. In my decal it is just a black spot. I'm working on a 1:18 recreation of 0858 based on a Jouef model. My wife told me the tiny little white word on the bad pic ended with 'ello' so I thought about Carello.

If memory serves me correctly, I found it in a copy of Auto Italiana magazine, when I was researching that list.
I also remember it was a fairly grainy B&W, so I didn't bother scanning it at the time.

Tell you who may well have a better one, though - David Castelhano - a.k.a. 'Bertocchi'.

If you look over the roofline of 0856 (PROVA MO-53), you can just see the corner of the stencil (on the L.H. rear) on 0846.

Manufactures Plate that allowed testing on public roads.

MO stood for Modena TO Turin.

The funny thing was in 2006 0846 was imported back into Italy to run in the Historic Targa Florio. The paper work included it's NYS Motor Vehicle registration that listed it's VIN # 0846 and it's NY Plate 330 P4. At that time 0846 was painted in the livery that it had run the Targa Florio in 67: # 224 /MO-53. The Italian Customs Authorities inspected the car and approved it for road use in Italy under the Licence Plate MO-53. When the Customs Broker Pointed out that the current registration Plate was NYS 330 P4 the Italian Customs Inspector replied: In the US it can use that plate. In Italy this car 0846 runs with MO-53.

Jim, Paul or anyone. A rear view picture of 0846 at Daytona seems to be very hard to find. I have never seen one. If anyone turns one up PLEASE POST IT!!! I was under the impression it had MO-53 on the RH but was never really sure. I know it had the MO-36 in Sebring 1966. Love the old pics.

 

Maybe there is one taken by a Ford driver?

 

In response to the table of results / by chassis # / PROVA MO-XX which I made in my post #2, yesterday, I received an interesting PM, which began:

"Hi Paul,

Just to correct your records …."

Apart from my addition of the PROVA MO-XX numbers used on the various cars at these events, these are not 'my' records per sé, but a compilation of data from various other accredited published sources, which are generally accepted as 'historical fact'.

Whereas I would gladly accept - and even solicit any 'corrections' to the table of results (particularly chassis numbers and which PROVA MO-XX stencils were used), I would appreciate if any such would-be contributors could post (and substantiate) their claims publicly in this thread, so that we can all share the benefit of this new or corrected information .... or, at least, discuss its validity. Thank you.

No - the suggested 'corrections' were something quite different, which you and I have discussed before, IIRC.

Thanks. As far as that other thing my original Le Mans records show that the engine # listed on the Scrutineers paperwork makes him unlikely to be correct about that one. (Not 0846 a different car) If he posts it as a thread I'll be happy to scan and post the applicable part.

True. Once again if someone feels this deserves a thread I'll be happy to get my documents out of storage and scan the relevant parts.

I can see chassis plates being swapped but I can't see engines being swapped and I'm pretty sure engine 0856 was in the car that had the yellow stripe at Le Mans 67 but either way it would be interesting to see the documents that say 0858 was the Yellow Stripped car and compare them with the ones I have.

There is someone who feels that there is evidence that at Le Mans 67 0856 was really #21 and 0858 was really # 24. I've not seen that evidence and the Scrutinising Documents I have don't IMO support that as they show Chassis/engine/Race # as you've listed them but it's an interesting thought and worth investigating should the documents supporting the switch be publically posted.
