YES! :)
Such as? Michael's gone and I don't think any of the drivers in the current GP2 lineup are worthy of Ferrari seats just yet.
Disagree with you Ted. There is such a thing as honor. If Alonso had not acted as he did while at McLaren, I probably would have reluctantly given in after a while. But after the transcripts, after how this arrogant self centered POS acted towards his own team, well, no thanks. If Ferrari were to hire Alonso, then I would have to assume that the heart is dead, and they are only thinking with their penis. At that point, I am out. That does not make me less of of a Tifosi if the reason I am out is because the heart is dead. Just means I need to move on to a team that is alive and has pride. Years ago, Pat Riley nearly hired Spreewell, whatever that jerk's name is, to play for the Miami Heat. Outcry from the fans, including me. Riley realized the team would have lost many fans, let the guy stay with the Knicks. Same story with Ferrari. My Italian friends "would rather become Muslim than support Alonso at the Scuderia." Spoken like a true Catholic.
He can beat whoever he wants. I dont want to see him in a red machine. He is not worthy. As for beating Ferrari 3 straight...you make me laugh. His first win was gifted to him because of the stupid move by the FIA on the tire issue. They may as well have told Ferrari to run on 3 tires. If you are counting his possible win this year in the McCheaters ilegal car then that explains where you sit as a Tifosi.
I personally do not like Alonso who seems to be a cry-baby. Having said that it really does not matter anymore who is in Ferrari as I lost all interest with Michael's leaving & the manner of his parting.
I know it sounds odd.....but just saying that Alonso could beat Ferrari 4 times in a row for the WDC (after the MS years spoiled us) is reason enough for me to hire the guy to team Ferrari. I don't have to sleep with him, I just want Ferrari to win the WDC again
I have been a Scuderia fan without fail, a Tifosi, since the days of Lorenzo Bandini (I was only 3 months old). Never has there been an F1 driver that has behaved as Fred Alonso. I would rather return to the losing years pre Schumacher, than see such an arrogant self serving personality as Alonso drive a Ferrari. I would replace my Boxer with a Suzuki. I would even support Ron Dennis at that point, only because he is slightly less of a POS than Alonso. I hope my words were slightly clear, those pain pills......... I want to add an even bolder, more specific comment. If the only reason someone would want Alonso at Ferrari is to win the WDC, then I would call you as much of a whore as whomever would make such a decision at Ferrari. Likely that would be Luca, and everyone with a pulse knows he is a politician and a whore.
Some say that MS broke, bent, and twisted, just as many or even more rules than Fred? Has anyone ever kept a score? Number of times a Champ cheated to become a champ? (not how many times they actually got caught) Watching FerrariChat.. it seems that most of the hate for JPM (who dared to pass MS for the lead in a few races) was just transfered to Alonso when he started ruining MS's streak. Hating Alonso... is an emotional thing that fans do. Wanting a WDC for Ferrari next year....is something I'm looking at from a business point of veiw. This is an interesting test. Look at any-other sport, where a star player for a rival team, wrecks your team's season....sure the fans hate him! But now he's a free agent and your team has a chance to pick him up? How much is emotional hate... and how much is a smart business choice? Its hard to deal with sports fans...they don't always go with the logical choice. .
JPM was an arrogant POS. Alonso is an arrogant POS. Has nothing to do with MS. Mika gave MS a run and beat him, yet most Tifosi respect MH. Even Hill was not a POS like Alonso, and he beat MS. They both have more class than Alonso. Did you read the transcripts? Nothing MS did can come close to the BS that Alonso has pulled. Get real. The discussion has nothing to do with cheating, for me, it has to do with class and pride.
Sounds like you're more interested in their personal life than their skills on the race track? It looks to me, that its more anger directed at the other guy that is beating the home team. I understand and its normal... but I like trying to get beyond the- We're Great and They're Bad. JPM and Alonso both have one thing in common...they both passed MS from-time-to-time. No one else did, and no one else is hated as much as these two men on Fchat Just looking for more...on why there is so much rage for these two drivers. What percentage is "Fan effect"? What part is real? .
Don't even start with JPM. He was a real POS. I loved him when he came out and I was like>Oh cool finally someone with balls. Then suddenly it all changed but I was still kinda liking the guy. Then in Indy one year (F1) I witnessed a Colombian fan with his national flag sprint after JPM's Merc (that was leaving the pits) for the better part of 100 yards for an autograph. JPM slowed down the car and waited for the fan to get to him. His own countryman with his national flag just being a diehard fan. When he got to the car JPM started lowering his window and then just flipped the middle finger at the fan and peeled off laughing. I saw this with my own two eyes no more than 10 feet from me. That was the day JPM came on the top of my list of scumbags. Also at Indy when the mob tried to breach the fence , which fell (almost over Shumi) wile trying to get Schumacher's signature I end up behind all the doors, together with some other guy with a camera. We asked Shumi to stop and talk to us and he did. He gave us a couple of autographs each and when I tried to unbuckle the second hat I had hanging on my belt hoops to get it also signed, he just smiled at me, pet me on the shoulder and said> Don't you think you were lucky enough for one day< This is not the only time when I've been face to face with both of them. I am in no way a personal friend of either one. But from my personal experiences Shumi has always been polite and JPM an arrogant ******.
i voted no. he may be the best F1 driver out there now, but i'm very happy with the current lineup the Scuderia has.
+1 a couple of years ago, JPM was at the 'Mall area' of the Sepang circuit. he was driving for BMW WIilliams at that time. you'd be surprised to see that barely any people evern bothered to notice him. heck, even Sato had more fans than him. there's this particular European chap was so excited and showed me proudly : a pic he took with Sato, and an autograph from him. i remember the announcer was annoucning and telling the crowd that JPM was among the crowd at the mall area, but no one seems to care. MS, OTOH, is a true gentleman i think. my close friend ( a rich one ) managed to get a ticket for the annual gala dinner we have here every year. most f1 drivers are invited for the gala, and my friend, was seated just a few tables away from Schumi. she walked over, smiled at him, asked him for a pic and a autograph. he smiled for the pic, signed the autograph, and she commented that she thinks that he's the best, and according to her, Schumi just smile warmly and said 'thank you for the thought'. she also managed to meet Button, who, according to her, was as cool as Schumi too. I, OTOH, hand to endure her non-stop story about it
Why they don't recontract Massa - He is so FAST & FURIOUS he can b better than Alonso & he has done so good for Ferrari - so many poles & race victories & podiums i wonder y they not recontract him??? I want Massa & Raikonen in Ferrari
No way. Alonso is good at driving, he has proven that, but it is impossible to like his behaviour. As a human being he is simply a POS. Ciao Eugenio
Imagine if you will, a pool of drivers selected by all teams entered in Formula One. Each team would contribute the same amount to a pool and therefore all driver salaries are paid equally. A lottery would be held one week before a race determining which team would receive which driver. A team may ask a favoured driver to test for them, but the liklihood of that driver returning to the team are one in eleven each race. Therefore, the field might have LH in a Spyker , Fred in a Honda and Sutil in a Ferrari on any given week. There would be no team orders as the WDC and WCC would be completely independent of one another. This would also allow fans of a particular team to also maintain their preference for a particular driver without conflict (...for the most part...). Although teams would have difficulties setting up the car to a random driver's liking, conversely, a driver would have to adjust his style to accommodate the car. Barring bad luck during the lottery process on both manfacturer and driver's sides, the cream should rise to the top by the end of the season and the racing would be not only closer but fascinating to watch, as long held beliefs in a particular driver's capabilities might be dashed just as easily as it could be reinforced with what basically would be as close to a level playing field as you're likely to see. A dimension not only of sight and sound, but of mind. A journey into a wondrous land of imagination..That's the signpost up ahead .....
I can think of three people right away who would be successful in this format for sure Gilles Villeneuve Ayrton Senna Michael Schumacher
+1000!! "If Ferrari were to hire Alonso, then I would have to assume that the heart is dead".... -not only the heart but also the soul
I don´t want to join this debate (yet), but I´ve seen that this thread has become a bi-polar controversy: everybody seems to agree that Alonso at Ferrari means easy wins but without honour. Some think that´s OK, because honour doesn´t count if you´re winning and others say that is better to keep that honour, even if you loose. But I think that there are many more possibilities. Alonso doesn´t mean easy wins if the car is crap, so, how do you think Alonso would react in that situation? Even if the car is OK, do you think that there could be a civil war like in McLaren this year?
Honor? Honor has nothing to do with this I doubt many would say Schumi is an "honorable" racer. Alonso is not a likeable guy, that's what it comes down to. He is calculating, arrogant, and a whiner. He also happens to win.
