At a recent event here in UK I noticed that on an early 246 the warning triangle was mounted on the front left hand side of the spare wheel tray just behind the radiator. Was this common to all cars including the later models (specifically 73 gts) or were the triangles then kept in the boot (trunk)?

Our '73 RHD GTS (07412) has no such bracket or strap.

I think this set up is for the early cars only - my '71 (01296) has it (left for the triangle, right for the jack)

Maybe the change has to do with danger of these things flying around during a front end collision...

My '69 #00462 has no such mountings on either side. FYI.

i checked the two dino's in my garage and 07714 doesn't have any drill holes, but 08468 does have drill holes and nothing there to show why. i have no reason to believe that someone made a mod to 08468 and removed it as it basically had two owners that each owend it for over 15 years before i bought it.

when we talked about this before, we talked about the jack and the triangle. as i look down from this area, i see the floor. i can't believe that these couldn't come lose and cause a problem. who still has these area's occupied by a jack and a triangle?

    pietro,

what style of jack and pouch do you have? i have never been able to figure out how one would mount the jack at this point. the triangle is light and i can see it (though not really think it is a great idea), but the jack is pretty heavy and in a bag. i don't see how it would be possible to mount like this.

I will check my car this evening but I think that there is a metal support (pad) welded to the frame at the base of where the jack goes.

The holes on my car 1972 gts 4364 are about one inch down from the rubber molding, and only on the left side as you face the front of the car. I can't tell if the holes on the right side have been filed as I see no marks. The previous two owners had the car 10 years and 20 years, with the second owner not interested in concours.
Any original dino owner's out there?
