I heard it from a friend this morning that Alonso has...or will soon....sign with Ferrari.

    http://automotivenews.blogsome.com/2007/09/24/breaking-alonso-to-ferrari-for-40-mil/

I for one, like Massa and hope he stays with Ferrari. But rumors of him going Toyota would seem to support a change in the driver line-up at Ferrari. IF Alonso and Kimi are on the same team, who is the top driver? Will Ferrari let them duke it out until one of them has an advantage....and then make that their course for the rest of the season? And is Todt really being booted out of his position by the returning Ross Brawn? I'm sure he is very upset and feels that he has been "used". Ferrari have the ability to attract top talent...but lately they seem to treat these people like pawns in a chess game. In the short term that may work...but in the long run I think it may come back to haunt them.

Daytime TV...with all the soap operas...could learn a thing or two from our beloved F-1. There are more backroom deals, handshakes under the table, backstabbing, and outright defecting going on then I can ever remember....a very disfunctional family indeed.

In the "good old days" with Schumi, Ruebens, Brawn, and Todt....Ferrari had the F-1 "dream team" no doubt. Those days are gone and it doesn't look like we will see the likes again for a long time.

If Alonso wanted priority, and didn't want someone as quick as Lewis for a teammate, why would he go to Ferrari and be partnered with kimi? Kimi wouldn't play second fiddle, and Ferrari would make it equal for both drivers as they have done so far this year. This rumor makes no sense to me, but him going to Renault now seems very probable. If Alonso and Ron aren't even on speaking terms, Freddie is gone for next year.

Kimi is the type that just doesn't give a flying f**k about anything (sorry for the profanity, but that's the Kimi persona to me). I doubt He'd give much verbal objection to Alonso joining, but I can guarentee, he wouldn't slow down and let Alonso take first seat at the Scuderia. I think Alonso would be in for just as much, if not a bigger headache if he came to Ferrari.

Kimi doesn't have the "Number One" car at Ferrari and he is still faster than Phil. Why does it matter to Alonso what color camera is on top of his car? If he's so damn fast then he should shut his trap and get on.

Mr Alonso certainly has issues keeping a job, lets look at his resume. OK he worked for Renault for a few years, and won 2 championships then he went to Mercedes and OOps cost them 100 Million, then jumped ship and goes to Ferrari. Well, I just don't know if I would hire him.... What starts out bad ends bad! How much will he screw Ferrrai for? Ferrari is beginning to sound like the Yankees and keeps buying super stars.

Kimi will wipe the floor clean with Alonso's arse. Just like he did to a certain JPM.

This is less than the amount that Kimi is supposed to be receiving. So this makes Alonso #2? Very unlikely that Fred would be #2 to anyone, and take less money than someone that never won the WDC.

it's very possible that he takes an amount less than would be expected in order for him to get out of his McLaren contract.
if it's true this would be a dream come true for me, my favorite driver on my favorite team!!!woohooo!!!!!

Possibly Alonso's contract is tied into wins that would be on top of the $40MM. If so, then he'd want to be top dog. They probably know Kimi is a "get 'r done" guy so they're not too worried about them butting heads. Ferrari wants to win at all costs so this does not surprise me.

All you guy's waiting for this news to be announced on "it's for real - F1" are missing out. These days you have to read between the lines to stay ahead of the curve ;)

lets face it there's a hell of a lot of folks here cringe at the thought of FA moving to ferrari ..... but i can't see him moving anywhere else , he aint moving to some second rate team like BMW ok there making progress there not fast enough FA as for him moving back to REN what have they done this year ... you may as well remane that team MINARDI there's only direction he's heading........

Many of the reports indicate that Alonso's pending move is "holding things up." If he goes to Ferrari then Massa will probably go to Toyota. Who will take Alonso's place? I've heard Heidfeld. Then who goes to BMW? I also think Flavio is tired of Fisichella so there might be a vacant seat there ... DRAMA! I like it!! ;)

Never will happen, if Alonso goes, Rosberg goes immediately to McLaren (unwritten rule for the last decade between Williams and McLaren).

Fisi will be out of a job period.....

I think this is the craziest silly season that I ever recall. I hope Nico Rosberg goes to McLaren. He isn't tarnished from the whole scandal and I think he would be stiff competition for Lewis.
