Ferrari is a very low profile Family... they don't deny it because they don't start it... this is just "bull****" from the English Magazine (GrandPrix) to give a little push on Hamilton and from the Spanish newspapers wanting to see Alonso far from the Hamilton domination...

    So...

I think it is much more than that because Massa is talking to Toyota.

This could be for real or it could be Alonso trying to rise his price with Renault.

The source is the same... Massa is a Ferrari pilota till the end of 2008... if by chance Massa leaves, Heidfeld enters... Believe me!

Surprised to hear the name Heidfeld. If Massa leaves I can see a bunch of other candidates first.

Massa is not talking to anybody.

IF Alonso leaves Mac, he'll go to Renault and no where else.

Rosberg, Button, Kovalainen, Piquet, latest kid from GP2

I always liked Quick Nick, but in reality he was lucky that BMW re-signed him for next year. While it was deserved, some people wrote him off years ago.

I don't think Ferrari wants to hire has-beens. Of course that same argument could be made for Button. :)

    Good analogy.
Although both have the same do-or-die attitude, one creates the other destroys.
Only Renault wants him. Good luck.

None of those has a Ferrari profile... Maybe Rosberg but not yet...
Remember that Heidfeld is German. The second Ferrari market and he is very quick, he's been for a while now... knows how to race and how to behave... Give him a fast car and the victories and motivation happens.

I did not complain. I was impressed with MS in the Benetton. Schumacher did not bring the amount of "baggage" with him to Ferrari as would Alonso. Other than being another German (after Berger) the Italian press did not have much to complain about other than they wanted an Italian at Ferrari such as Giancarlo. When it was learned that MS was learning Italian, and that he spent hours with the engineers/mechanics, the country began to like Michael. Winning the Italian GP for the first time in hundreds of years solidified his image within Italy.

I definetely do not respect Alonso, even with his driving skills. He is a major rectum. That Ted means a lot to me. I guess you will just have to wait and see how I drop off the map if Alonso drives a Ferrari. That or I will lurk and take X-rated snipes at anyone supporting Alonso. :]

Some great posts and my sentiments have been well voiced. For me its a big hell no on Fred. I really like Massa and hope he stays with the team. Kimi can be good but leaves me cold and can take or leave him without consequence. Having Alonso driving red would be a mistake. I do admire his driving skills and contrary to some comments about him being a flash in the pan, I think he is possibly the best driver on grid. I do not like him and would find it hard to be interested in rooting for him.
My dream team would be Massa and Hamilton.

Rosberg claims Germany as home as well. I also think A. Davidson or LH would be good at Ferrari.
What Ferrari ( and all teams ) needed in the days before limited testing was a developement/ #2 driver and a rocket man #1 driver. Now you have to be good at both.
Massa's speed picked up this year while developing the car pre-season.
Kimi needs to concentrate more time on developement.
FA is good at both and knows it. However he is like crack ; it makes you feel good short term but long term watch out.

Yeah, look at Renault: Longterm you might end up with two consecutive championship titles. What a drag.

Just because Massa walked into the Toyota garage dosnt mean he is talking about leaving. If he wanted to talk to Toyota, dont you think he would just get his or some agent call them? It amazes me that with all the talk and evidence that was coming out of every corner of the earth over McCheater using Ferrari secrets that some in here did not believe them to be guilty but Massa walks into the Toyota garage and he is surely leaving Ferrari. :)

I've read somewhere that he used to stay in the shop with the mechanichs sometimes until midnight and then take like a 50mile run to the only open pizza place and drive back his Ferrari with a stack of pizzas on the passanger seat. Everyone on the team loved him and were ready to do anything for him. It was HIS team. Alonshole can not achieve this in a million years even IF he wins a title in red.
Someone said he is like another Prost, and I thing it is right on the money.

As I said... Rosberg is not yet prepared for such a task... Even though, today, things are different from those days of the 80s and 90s... So if a pilot shows speed and knows how to behave... Can be a good bet.

As for the right team... Massa is fast and a good guy but lacks that extra second on the right moments... but today he is much better than last year... Kimi is a typical North European guy, likes to drink, likes to dance, likes girls and "dolce fare niente"... But like most Finns, he is fast and, at the right moment with the right car he is the best...

As for Lewis, well...he is naturally fast and precise, I think he is one the best young drivers of all times...
Alonso is a very good driver, never, ever, give up a good fight and usually he wins so "Kudos" for him. BUT HE IS NOT A GOOD GUY, HE LACKS MODESTY AND DRIVES FOR HIM AND HIS PERSONAL EGO.

So, and to be a Ferrari pilot, you need to be fast, good at giving technical notes, well prepared, gentle with everybody... always thinking for the team and with the team.
I know what I'm saying. I work with Italians...
Sometimes beeing fast is not enough...

Kimi was the best choice after Shummy... so and for the second time (Irvine was the first), Ferrari has a pilot that it is not so good testing the Ferrari and giving technical notes...as for the rest, he is good.

Regarding the Renault titles... well, the Renault was a very good project from 2004 on and it was a question of time... first year Kimi did what McLaren permitted... and the F2005 although a good project lacked some results at the right moments... Alonso was fast and the Renault very reliable.
Second year, could be and should have been a Ferrai year... Bad luck in Japan. The F248 was a very good car and just the first races were not so good... But one thing is for sure, Alonso is a very lucky guy... Sometimes God is Spanish...

    Regards,

    Mont

F alonhole, I want him nowhere close to the Ferrari Paddock. Maybe he should join Skyper, and see if he can rescue that team from the back of the grid. Alonhole and Ferrari just dont mix, it's like water and oil, do they mix? Hell NO!!!

Me neither. As much as I disliked Schumacher's on-track antics, he was the best driver in F1 and Ferrari would have been foolish not to sign him.

    Debatable.

Schumacher turned his back on his first team after one race. He voided his contract with the second for cheating activities that he himself was a major participant and the primary beneficiary. He had a reputation for dangerous driving and for running his opponents into the wall, and if you think Lewis and Alonso have a bad relationship, you should ask Martin Brundle what he thinks of Schumacher as a teammate.

It is easy to look back after 5 WDCs and countless wins and say how welcome Schumacher was to the team but back then, he was under very heavy criticism and quite a few Tifosi protested at his signing.

My guess is that this would be the case with Alonso, should he join the team. A lot is forgiven after a championship or two, especially in Italy.

Fact: Schumacher didn't bother learning Italian until the team signed Rubens to replace Irvine. Rubens was already fluent and Schumacher recognized that this would give Rubens a tactical advantage. Throughout the Irvine years, Schumacher never bothered to learn the language. Don't go infusing this story with some romantic notion of Michael integrating himself into the team through an assimilation into the Italian culture and lifestyle. Schumacher lived for one end only, that was winning. Everything he did, everything, was for that one sole aim, to win.

    All excellent points!

BTW: You'll get a kick out of the October 2006 issue of BusinessF1. Tons of good stories. What went down in Jerez 97, what happened in Canada 03 and Monza 06.
