I've been outa the loop about the VCR/tow truck scenario. Are we still gathering here this coming Sunday? thanks
I think the key to a successful gathering, though, is that we attend as "customers", as opposed to "spectators" or "participants".
I haven't been in a while. What time do the cars start rolling in? I thought 0900 was the 'advertised' start time?
Actually, if you have a "show" car, you might want to get there before 7 so you don't have to park by Taco Bell. The last Sundays of the month have gotten HUGE. The tow trucks showed up around 10 last time, iirc.
Why were the tow trucks there? I know they landlords are trying to stop the "show" but how do they know who's not shopping or buying some coffee. Even if it's an exotic sitting there with it's hood open, that doesn't mean that the owner isn't shopping. The first thing I do when I get there is go get a cup of coffee, not for the politically correct reason but somply because I want a cup of coffee... go figure... and if I want to park my car there and drink my coffee, I should be able to, and what if I want to go to the market afterwards and then get a sandwich at Subway then get my hair cut... Is my car going to get towed while I'm doing that?
The security guard only put in the effort to stop the "show" that one time. I am not even sure if it was on the the landlord's instruction. It was just the security guard that called the tow trucks and said we had to leave. the police wouldn't let the tow trucks tow anyone. There has been no word since last month, so who knows. I wouldn't worry about it. You know how these things get blown out of prorportion.
All, I'll be there this Sunday. So if you see a guy in a 2000 Red Viper Rt/10 ...with a license plate of "UZY" .... stop by and say hello. I don't make it out to VCR as much as I want to, becasue of family and business, but I will definately try to be a more active participant. Thanks, UZY
