Signal Green, Grigio Militare, French Blue....where's the 599 color palette going?

That is true but why are 599 customers choosing these colors, seems to be a pattern developing.

Just a gut feel, but I think that 599 owners probably have already done the "red Ferrari thing" with their previous cars.

Actually, I noticed the same pattern with the 550s and 575s. Not a whole lot of red in those cars, more subtle colors tend to be in favour

Well, modern Ferrari's look the best in any color but red IMO, but I'm referring to the more unusual colors.

i think 12-cylinders ferraris are chosen with more elegant colours rather than plain red as they're more sophisticated and most of them already has some red ferrari. the other thing is the supercar market is growing and there are relativaly much of them, so people need to manifest they're exclusivity in other way

The red v-8 Ferrari is awesome for those Sunday drives in the back country roads or taking out a hot date on a Saturday night...but the v-12 in a darker and/or more discreet color is much better for just about every other purpose and especially the purpose of wanting a fun Ferrari without the attention. The fact that it doesn't look as outrageous in appearance to begin with helps.

In my honest opinion, I love it that people are choosing more and more different colors. I did a lot of work with Porsche on how to improve their Exclusive program and the difference is that people expect (and in most cases have to) wait for a Ferrari and they can make it however they wish, but with Porsche, most likely there is a car that you will accept and you don't have to wait.

The one reason I think people are getting more and more adventurous is that lately their has been a huge increase in special cars, don't think Barchetta, CS or SuperAmerica, think more like Jim's P4/5, the 575 Zagato, the Sessanta, the one guy (the name escapes me right now) who has a customized 612, and to a certain extent Michiel v.d. Brink and his GTO drawings. Something else to think about is how Ferrari is offering older colors on the 612.

While all of these projects separately won't have an impact, these together show people that almost all options are open. Most aren't going to pony up for body changes and additions, but THE RIGHT color change will have a huge impact on a car and is very easy and relatively inexpensive to do. To me, it just seems that a lot of Ferrari buyers are looking at what the 'big boys' are doing and thinking that they can customize their cars too and color is something that will certainly set people apart. Plus, I agree with the guys above, the V12 cars are more classy and custom colors are more fitting.

Now, from a personally point of view, I am not a be fan of the Kermit 599, but I would love to see that color on a 430 or 430 Scuderia!

I tend to agree with you. New buyers play it safe. Also many first time buyers have resale in mind.

With more money (safe to say in the case of 599 buyers) and more prior Ferrari's bought in the past, I suspect , as in the case of Shumacher's (white) car (not my choice) personalities express themselves. Personally, seeing 500 red Ferrari's in one place blurrs the senses. Best

Well the majority of 599's are red, black and silverstone. It's defenitely a nice break to see some out of range colors.

I agree - they're big cars, and red calls attention to that. It looks great on the delicate cars of the Daytona/Dino/Boxer/308 generations.
