A statement was made on another thread that we all want Ferrari to win, but I wonder if that is the case. Being interested in Ferraris doesn't mean we should put them above everything else.

I own and drive a Ferrari and love it, but I want to see Hamilton win the world championship. Before you all jump down my throat, I'm British, McLaren is a British team and Hamilton is a British driver, so what's wrong with my wanting them to win? It would be interesting to know who US listers would be supporting if Ford was in F1 with an American driver.

I can see under normal circumstances why you would feel as you do. But with all thats went on I would not support anyone under these conditions as of late. Even Ferrari. Though I do want them to win of course. Especially now. I can't really say if I would support Ford, but an American driver yes. But first and formost...Ferrari!

    Cheers!

    I want Kimi to win.

Up to the summer I had no issue with Hamilton winning the title. Wunderkind and all. But the hearings in Paris showed to me, that team McLaren really should be thrown out of the competition this year. They can't do this for a number of reasons, but it curbed my enthusiasm.

I have always pulled for the driver rather than the team...and, as an Alonso fan I want him to win his 3rd WDC in 2008...

Ian Are you scottish? if so nice sentiments.

I see nothing wrong in supporting Mclaren and Lewis . You could say I 'am in the same boat.

But everytime I get in my car I Know who I' am pulling for and it is'nt silver.

Hamilton in a red car who would you pull for then?

Yes, I'm Scottish, but British ;)

If Hamilton was in a red car I'd certainly be supporting him and Ferrari.

I was really thinking more about 'normal' years, without the background of all the scandal. The original poster assumed that because they were involved in FerrariChat everyone must be pulling for Ferrari, but I suspect that is far from the case. It might be simple for US posters because there is no US manufacturer or driver involved and so no conflict with national patriotism, but it's not the same for all of us.

I want Kimi to win too. He has been bridesmaid twice so far - I think he deserves a win. His performances in the middle part of the year was quite disappointing to me. But he seems to be back on form. Hopefully the Maccas would crash into each other and Kimi closes the gap to both of them. :)

Shame that, but I hope you would rather see Lewis in a ferrari over FA not that it will ever happen and that's a shame.

But nothings a cert in this sport..

Either Hamilton or Alonso in a Ferrari would be great. No real preference, they're both top of the line.

As for the original question from IanMac:

Yes, rooting for a driver comes first. Which is why I was happy to root for Alonso while he was driving for Renault. Not an ideal situation.

I'd love to see Coulthard winning and if he and Hamilton were actually competing for the world championship I'd be rooting for him. Unfortunately that's not the case. Hamilton is the British driver who has a chance of winning and I'd like to see it happen.

I supported FA at Renault but unlike you went off him quite recently.

    I would'nt have a problem if I had'nt bought a Ferrari ;)

I prefer close racing to Ferrari winning.

I like Kimi's style a lot - I would love to see him win more.

Hamilton in a Ferrari would be good against Alonso in some other team ,otherwise theirs no competition.
I really loved the battles between shumy & Hakkin.
I am not kean on Alonso as a person but he drives hard!
Alonso should change his attitude he may have more fans,I don't think he has to pay anyone to win but win it fair!

Thats what competition is all about ,same rules and winning with fair play.

By the way I was at Maranello yesterday and the 430 scuderia was testing on the streets ,very nice car without the stripes! I saw several and the stripes were too wide ,not very nice.I saw a plain red one ,and it was special.

Just like anyhting else, I want to see clean and exciting competiton. I root for Ferrari, but if someone else is up front or making an honest and dedicated try I am just as happy.

I too own a Ferrari and love Sophia but I too want to see Hamilton win the world championship. (I also own two MB but don't cheer for McLaren. I own an Audi and definitely support Audi and Audi drivers - especially my Scottish friend.)

There's nothing wrong with your thoughts.

    Hi Ian,

I am English, British and I am rooting for Ferrari all the way...

Shouldn't you be rooting for DC? :)
