About "Borat" movie....

I did find it amazing to see some of the diversity of this country. It is amazing how different things can be across the country.

I think one of my favorite parts was when the bear was in the ice cream van, and all the kids ran up to buy ice cream......priceless

almost every thread you and ur friend ( Diablo_rus) create is about "stupid" americans , american "stupid" taste , "stupid" movies and about powerfull smart Russia.....So what's the problem? STFU and have fun in ur superior country.

 

sasha baron cohen was yelling great success and high fiving himself all the way to the bank with this movie. i liked it, and it did show some people's true colors. the fraternity brothers, the cowboy at the rodeo, and etc. were all shown saying statements that they believed, even though they may have been tricked into it, or led to their statements. but aside from that,
Borat: [while driving] Look, there is a woman in a car! Can we follow her and maybe make a sexy time with her?
Driving Instructor: No, no, no, no, no, no!
Borat: A-why not?
Driving Instructor: Because a woman has the right to choose who she has sex with.
Borat: [stunned] WHAT...? You joke?
Driving Instructor: It must be consensual. How 'bout that?
Borat: [turns to Instructor, pauses] Ahahahahaha!
Driving Instructor: That's good, huh?
Borat: [pause] Is not good for me.

 

I actually bought the Borat green swimsuit/thong and wore it in Ibiza this year. Caused quiet a scene downtown. I might post some pics in the "other" section.

I have friends who live in Almaty and they told me most people think the movie is kind of funny in a satirical way. Of course it's also making fun of said stupid Americans who actually believe the "Borat" character is actually someone from Kazakhstan.

Now if you are the muslim Kazachs they probably don't think it's as funny the Russian Kazachs do... but then again, the Russian Kazachs think the Muslim/native Kazachs are funny in their own right, in a demeaning sort of way

 

In all seriousness that's pretty uncalled for and downright rude.

 

Borat was a dumb movie. I think I chuckled once. The rest of the time it was just... dumb. Like something a 12 year old would make.

+1 That wasn't a nice comment... I've known some russian, lithunanian and polish girls and they are all very warm and welcoming women who deserves respect. Lithuania was a soviet country ca. 2 decades ago and people from that region are some of the best people I've met in my life...

I didn't think it was funny in the theater, but I was in a crappy mood when I saw it. I bought it when it came out on dvd and have had a few laughs from it.

I think it's pretty similar to Napoleon Dynamite as far as strange humor goes...

 

I guess strange humor has many flavors? Napolean cracks me up every time, yet I can't stand Borat's junior high humor.

 

i lol'd throughout borat, but the first time i saw napoleon dynamite, i don't think i laughed more then a couple of times. too much dry humor, but looking back at N.D. there were a few funny parts in it.

 

Yeah, Napoleon Dynamite is really stupid if you go into it expecting some master plot. I saw it the first time with a bottle of Arbor Mist and laughed my way through it. The second I was drinking with a friend and he jumped up to do the dance at the end of the movie and that was pretty funny, too. I guess it's all who you watch it with and how much you've had to drink (or smoke if that's your thing).
