2 of my favorite smells are 1) getting into the Rolls (or Bentley as case may be) and letting that scented wall of leather hit you when you open the door. Very cool how it retains itself. 2) Sitting in a Ferrari 355/360/430 spider on a cold start and letting the exhaust fumes work their way over the engine back to the cabin and smelling the gas as the engine's warming.

The interior smell that hits you when you sit inside a Porsche 964 (the 1990-1994 model year 911).........

I cannot describe it other than to say it is the perfect example of the odor of "German automotive technology".

what year are you talking about? i think it was either the wood they used in the early 80s cars or the fact that the early 80s seats were actually stuffed with some type of Hay. My 80 240 D actually had hay for stuffing in the seats. The seat back of the drivers side seat fell off and i was like what the hell is there hay in here for? I thought maybe my mom used it to carry some pots or something but nope, looked in the back of the seat back and sure enough the dang thing was stuffed with this weird look hay/wheat type stuff lol..

I've driven an old 80's 300D that had the smell, a late 80's E class gas, an early 90's E class diesel, and my 94 C class. They all have the same interior smell.

I looked at a MB sedan from the 60's and the salesman told me that the horse hair was starting to come through the leather.

The car we just bought came from a guy who had planes and had his own fuel depot, so he used his 100 AV gas in the cars. I hated to use that tank up it smelled sssoooooooooo good.
