I see the Japanese car, the black GTO and a 308 :)
Wrong lights, missing the seams in the front panel, QV hood, wrong wheels, no rear side window vents and gererally incorrect shape.
    Mind you, tough audience here!

:D I wasn't sure on that one, but I'm not an expert on GTO's at all, only on the locations of a couple of them. I like the picture though.

What did you think, the owner had no money for repair and the car was parted out? : )
It would be difficult to replicate this paintfinish in a repair:

Probably old news to this crew, but Hemmings Sports & Exotic has a 288 GTO feature in the new issue. Kinda fluffy reading, but nice pics. (November issue)

Original 288 GTO Tool Pouch (top) compared to the 288 GTO Tool Pouch that Ferrari has been selling for years as a spare part (bottom). The differences are pretty obvious. Smooth brown grain on the original, pebbled black grain on the spare part. Root bear handled screwdrivers without the Ferrari logo compared to black handled ones with the Ferrari logo. The spanners are a bit different as well. I think the original ones are actually Utema wrenches branded Ferrari. (This educated guess is based on comparing the wrenches to the USAG, Utema, PolyTools and Everest wrenches Ferrari have used in this type of tool roll. This set is an exact match to the Utema wrenches.) The spare parts version is several different types of wrenches and the 17 is actually a combination wrench, not an open wrench.

Oh, the extra item in the original is the emergency window lift wrench. This is not technically a tool pouch item. This would be in the pouch on the back of the passenger seat. I just keep mine here so I don't loose it.

The bottom picture is off an original jack kit, including the original Champion A59G spark plugs.

Yeah, It would be hard for a good painter to have a new pain job look so bad. I've rarely seen a worse paint job on a car from any factory than that on a GTO. The orange peel on these cars is truly amazing. I actually first thought it was shipping damage. But, no such luck, they all look that way. Then, if orange peel isn't bad enough, Ferrari used several different tints of paint on the same car so you can see the different Reds from the front, the doors and the rear. I never noticed until a Pebble Beach quality painter pointed it out. But, now that I know, you can't miss it.

Probably the tool I use the most frequently is the lead dead blow wheel hammer. The one I use is a 8 lb job. You can see where I've walloped the wheel nut wrench in getting the hex bolts off when I'm not around the garage to use the breaker bar and wheel nut socket.

Every now and then, as with an F40 nut, sometimes it feels like one of the wheel bolts is welded to the wheel. (By the way, on GTOs, this is rarely an issue of the bolt threads. but where angled edge of the bolt rests against the wheel.) That's when you go right to the NASCAR air gun using a nitrogen tank and show that damn bolt, or nut, who's boss......

Hmmmm.... Sounds like I've been there, no?

A 400000 car is not written of because some minor damage. Even the burnt GTO from the german dentist (pictures in this thread) was repaired! (or better rebuild)
