I am getting close to pull the trigger: my Spider 360 is to go and Scuderia is waiting, delivery on march 2007. Still have few concerns, though.

I noticed in option price list stripes are costing some 5 keuros extra.

Can anyone scan here full option price list with euro tax free prices?

    Thanx in advance!!

Interested to hear the option prices for the additional carbon areas (rear diffuser, etc), which seemingly are required to reach the full 100kgs weight saving. Hope it's not too much, as I really think these should have been standard.

    There are three options availbale:

CEXF Headlights and front splitter carbon, weight saving 1,5 kg Price appr. 5 000 euros
CEXR Rear Diffuser and hood in carbon, weight saving 10 kg Price appr. 16 000 euros
CEXS Door sills in carbon painted in car color, weight saving 4 kg, Price appr.7 000 euros

It ain't cheap to loose weight : )

I have local price list from which I reduced some 30 % of the prices ( local car taxes)

Does this imply that to get the full 100kg weight savings of the 430S over the 430, one has to pay for options???? Ugh! I don't believe that applied to the Challenge Stradale at all. If so, it appears that for the 430S one has to fork out an additional $40 thousand US (28KEuros X 1.42) to get 15% of the purported 430S weight savings. Moreover, some buyers will do it, others won't, meaning 430S cars will show up with different weights. Here we go again, 430S models showing up in North America with different weights (and different acceleration) attributable to different options that very few will be really clear about.

In my opinion, it doesn't feel right: when marketing new car it should have these figures as a standard, not with You must spent all this extra to get there!

I sure hope 100 kg is standard, and this is extra diet.

    Can anyone confirm this?

I do not think this is true. I believe the 100kgs weight saving is achieved with the car's standard configuartion, however, I will have this verified on Monday from a reliable source at Ferrari Italy.

+1 standard kerb weight is with standard factory options.

in reply to the original question, spending 50k to shave off another 10 kg does not make any sense.....do the math and you will soon realize that you will only save less than 1% in weight...now, what difference will that make ?

otoh, spending 50k on carbon pieces for the looks is perfectly fine with me....

No, those were available carbon options. Totally, they have +30 options available to the Scuderia.

I have the official option list, but is in finnisha and with local car taxes.

Can you get away with foreign plates in Finland. I took my porsche up there last summer and my friend was telling me about the crazy ideas your Gov has about collecting taxes on cars and not letting locals getting away with driving on foreign plates. BTW I followed a 360 in some nice seaside town to the east of Helsinki, forgotten the name. Was not you was it ?:)

Hopefully the 100kg weight saving is standard then and the carbon options are just an extra weight saving. Not one I will be taking up at 28,000 Euros. A cost you may have to pay again, if ever need to replace these items on areas most vulnerable to road/track damage.

Here's the article excerpt mentioning the carbon options. It's just an MSN review so here's hoping the info is just wrong.

The steering wheel has LEDs across the top that light up sequentially as the rev limit approaches. This is an option and there are many more. Indeed, you won't get the full 100kg weight saving unless you specify, and pay extra for, some of the lightweight panels. The £200k 430 is here.

Yes, they do: we are not allowed to drive anyones cars in foreign plates unless the owner is sitting in the car!

Thsi is beacuse of government protecting the car tax, otherwise we all would own foreign registered cars : )

Yes, I live east side by the sea, so if You followed red Spider 360, it was me!

I look forward to hearing the information you get.

I think the relevance of having to "buy" options to get the full 100Kg weight reduction is more than, just, can I afford it, or the quip 'one has to pay to play'. Recall the long and contentious debate about the true curb weight of the Challenge Stradale, with many magazines and dealers quoting roughly 2800lbs. Yet, in the US, many models weigh in at 3000-3100lbs. A potpourri of things supposedly account for the observed difference, like different bumpers, presence of a hifi and speakers, presence of a spare tire, etc. And when all the misunderstandings and jumble are put together, some have claimed that with only 25 more HP than a 360 Modena, and NO more torque, that the heavier (than publicized) CS may not really be able to out accelerate a 360Modena by much. OK, the CS has lots of other things going for it, but any DILUTION of the original hype is cause for concern.

Is the same kind of confusion going to come with the arrival of the 430S which will have 20 more HP but NO more torque than a 430 coupe? Will the claimed 200lbs weight savings, compared to a 430coupe, be considerably less for those who won't fork out for weight related options, but maybe will fork out for a heavy radio, spare tire etc. Will they really see the performance gains the ferrari test drivers at fiorano report.

Bottom line is we all want to BELIEVE the 430S will live up to its mega-hyped reputation in our own "backyard". But many of us also have a tendency to gobble up, uncritically, all the hype just to live in magazine fantasy world. And so, I hope the significance of the weight related options (read performance related) gets sorted out.
