Finally, this car comes stateside. It will show just how incredible some of the Japanese cars can be. Still just a Nissan? Best bang for the buck?

every new sports car in development or testing is going to be the fastest and greatest thing since sliced bread....when was the last time a sports car didnt have hype??? Faster than the vette, blows the doors of the 911carrera, eats the ferraris lunch, makes a lambo look slow...etc etc....I always reserve judgement until 1} the car is available to the public in theUSand 2} both the US auto press and I have a chance to test the car....

The 997 GT2 with Walter Rorhl driving did 7:32 around the ring as per my recent post with video in this section.

The Carrera GT was 4 seconds faster IIRC.

Regardless.......even if it was faster it wouldn't matter to me.........it's not a Porsche...........it's a Nissan.

    Not yet...
Anyone been to the Nissan dealer to get their new car repaired? It's a nightmare. Been there, done that. I have nothing against Nissan products... there older stuff is great! I just wouldn't pay top dollar for a new Nissan & expect any kind of support. Give me a 240 with JDM swapfor $10k, thanks. $100k GTR? Nope.

I don't care what anyone says. This car is exciting as hell. Aiming for a GT and still a viable GT car on street tires!!? This car is amazing. I look forward to official reports later.

If they were to market it as an Infiniti, it might just work out. Otherwise, I don't see Nissan dealers supporting this kind of higher price tag car with the care that the owners will be expecting.

My guess is it will show up as an Infiniti. I guess if Ford can do it with the GT, why can't Nissan do it with the GTR?

Infiniti is WORSE than Nissan at customer support. Ask me how I know...

    **** Infiniti.

Anway, I'd rather have an R33 GTR. Looks better, too :)

If my local Nissan dealer was that bad with service I'd imagine you could take it to Infiniti. . . they've got great service :)

But this isn't some crap like Ferrari that needs stuff all the time ;) ;)

We have it on what authority that this car is doing this stuff on street tires or production trim/engine/exhaust etc...

I mean the damn thing still has camouflage on the front.

Who cares what the brand name is? You don't have to use the Nissan dealer for routine maintenance. There will be tons of stuff for this car in the aftermarket as well that you won't need to go to a Nissan dealer if you don't want to. Definitely a lot of bang for the buck and it looks better than I ever expected.

    I still want an R34, though. :)

I'm not talking about oil changes. I'm talking about when your tranny doesn't shift right anymore, or trim starts falling off, or your fog light somehow shatters at low speeds... THREE TIMES in a row!!! Infiniti's answer to all my service requests was "cannot duplicate" or... from the lips of the manager, "you broke it!". **** I hate that company!!!

So they are targeting the Carrera GT.
    Great.
Anyone can identify a target, hitting it will be completely different.
    Enzo next ?

Hell they will skip the enzo go straight to the F1 cars or a FXX since all their other claims seem outrageous.

    Great, just what we need.

Yet ANOTHER Japanese car that will be inevitably painted neon green with orange trim, festooned with bolt on scoops and fins, silly 6-ft high aluminum wings and sound like my neighbor's electric weed whacker.

The sideways baseball hat crowd will love this for sure. Hey, looks like another reason to make a sequel to F & the F.

How long has the CGT been out? Talk about a lag between comparisons. Anyone can eventually catch up to anything. If I built a car that was faster than the Model T, does that mean I should win a prize?

If Nissan can't compare than that's a problem for them. Any car can be made to go fast in a straight line and around turns, it only takes money. To make it a supercar it has to look very stylish, have a great sound, handle like a champ and be wanted by the crowd.

Not that I'm defending such a turd of a car, but...

Don't worry guys, the "sideways baseball hat crowd" that can afford a $100k car will continue to buy Ferrari 360's.

And althought the car looks like a porn star after 30 years of botox & UV rays, a production car that can meet/beat a CGT for $200k less is noteworthy.
