What should Ferrari's penalty be?

  1. Loss of all team points from Fuji

  2. Loss of all team AND driver points from Fuji

  3. Elimination from the team championship

  4. Loss of points for the drivers only

  5. No penalty at all

I'm a strong believer in putting your money where your mouth is. If you are THAT much of a fan as you claim to be, you could find the money for a 308. It costs as much as a Toyota Camry.

Talk is cheap. Particularly on a chat site.

So according to you then if you make less than 100K you can't be a real Ferrari fan?
So in countries like Brazil with high levels of poverty there are no real Ferrari fans because they can't afford one.
My Subaru costs more than a descent 308, but it gives me room for five and it is a wagon and AWD. I live in the rockies and have a 1 year old. I would love to buy a Ferrari, but around here it is just a very unpractical and expansive to maintain toy. The nearest Ferrari dealership is 4 hours drive away and the windshield of my 1 year old car looks like a disco ball thanks to all the dust and sand on the roads. So until my kid goes to college and out of the house to me owning one makes no sense, unless I win the lottery.
I don't believe that this makes me less of a fan though.

And we have a Winner !

What will happen is that this infraction will be swept under the carpet and the Circus will move on.
Just as it should have been done to McC ( OK, to a greater degree ) for its Faux paux if not for the constant pissing and moaning by a few.

You can have a 308 with less than 100k. I know family fathers with even more expensive Ferraris and 5 figure salaries.

You have a lot of nerve claiming to be the super fan and accusing a Ferrari owner of not being a real fan.

You don't need to be an owner to be a fan, but I'd be more reluctant with labeling others.

I agree with you and respectfully disagree with you at the same time. You can not look at this in black and white.
All I am saying is that there are a lot, and mean A LOT of people who own more than one Ferrari and are not Ferrari fans in the sense of supporting their racing team. Some are poseurs, some have them just because they can, some for the driving experience etc etc. One can go on and on. This does not make them a fan in the true sense of the term. Because we are talking about Formula one right?
About labeling others, this same individual was posting some time ago how I should check to see that this is the "racing thread" and that he doesn't have to support Ferrari or its drivers to participate in it. I agree with this statement. He has been bashing both Ferrari on more than one occasion and MS every chance he got.
About me not owning one, I don't see how does that affect my support for the Scuderia. We all have our favorite football, baseball, hockey and racing teams. This makes us their fans. I happen to put Scuderia Ferrari above all other favorite teams which is why I consider my self a real tifoso. However everyone has to sort their priorities. Overall I can not afford to make owning a Ferrari my priority AT THIS TIME. It would come though. But first things first.
    That's all.
And actually when I checked e-bay last time, I realized that I probably have more than a 308 value in my diecast and memorabilia collection. No, I don't have a Ferrari in the garage but I have a shrine in my house and every year since the 2000 I drove to Indy to root for the team wile many Fcar owners were drinking beer in front the computer screens bashing the reds.
So I can proudly call myself a tifoso, Ferrari in the garage or not.

The idea that if you don't own a Ferrari you can't be a fan is pattently absurd. In today's world, there are as many poseurs that own Ferraris as enthusiasts. I'll bet half of the people who own Ferraris (especially modern ones) know little or nothing about the company's history, and couldn't care less about it. They are just interested in the image owning a Ferrari gives to the general public.

True. I have met more Ferrari owners who don't give a hoot about F1 than some who do.

Personally I find the whole "you're a real fan or not" discussions redundant. I honestly don't give a hoot whether somebody looks at me as a F1/Ferrari/MS/etc fan or not. It simply doesn't matter. I know what I am and that's all. My house btw seems to look a lot like yours with an entire room dedicated to F1 and Ferrari. :)

BTW: I can't help but think that if guys who are on opposite sides on here would probably have a good time together at a race. It's more fun to talk racing with somebody who cares (even if on the opposite team) than with somebody who rather watches football etc.

By the way I see the helmet on your avatar. I have the same one but without the Marlboro. I had it signed on the visor by Eddie, so now I take the visor off for track days and still use it.

About the football etc. it was just an example. The ONLY reason I have cable at home is because of the 18 times a year I watch Speed channel.

    Same here. :)
My other visor is signed by Eddie as well.
Probably the last time I used the Eddie helmet. Got a Kimi helmet on the way. :)

And you are not one of them.

What makes me a Ferrari fan is the 30+ years I have been following the team in F1. Yes, I checked, that DOES mean that I have been following Ferrari for longer than you have been alive.

I will file this statement under HUA...right next to all the other ones you have been making.

Swiss Blick's Roger Benoit brings up a good point:

When the FIA declares a race as a wet race (sign WR at the grid), then the teams MUST drive with rain tires, intermediates are not allowed.

It doesn't matter whether Ferrari got the memo or not, purpose or not. They were in violation of the rules right from the start. Pun intended. :)

I thought they were on intermediate WETS, just not on the required FULL WETS stated in the email(which of course they didn't receive in time)? I don't think they would have gone out on dry weather tires when there was not even a dry line in the track.

According to Benoit a wet race requires full wets. Not intermediates.

I don't agree. Remember the race Winklehoff(sp?) led for the first few laps after everyone pitted. It was still a wet race, but he wasn't on full wets like everyone else.

IIRC that race was not declared a wet race. Only if the FIA hangs out the sign "WR" at the pit, it is a wet race. At Nuerburgring they started in the dry.
